It is good to be back - Chelsea's FB was hacked 1,587 days ago and well yes, patience really does yield results - much like a carefully planned financial or lifestyle goal😜

Thank you to the living, breathing human at Meta Support who assisted with the account retrieval after many cat and mouse attempts, with said hacker, over the past 4 years!

A lot has happened since then - but we are still very much around:

We had the pleasure of attending the Millennium3 National Conference last week.

Chelsea was honoured to be named Financial Planner of the year 2022 for Western Australia at the conference. Tom was a finalist in the Professionalism Award for 2022.

We had the opportunity to connect, after a 2-year hiatus, with many other leading industry professionals and reflect on what has been a challenging time, for the world in general, and the financial services industry as a whole.

The agenda focused on the many opportunities that are out there if we are careful enough to filter through all the noise. Individually and professionally, we all face stormy seas but our ability to ‘stay the course’ allows us to adapt and succeed.
There will be many ‘waves of change’ facing the world as we navigate through what is likely to be a turbulent time on an economic, health and geopolitical front.
However, we are proud to have successfully navigated many headwinds and have come away with a renewed sense of optimism and confidence. The team at Infuse Financial are ‘on-course’ having harnessed the chance to network and leverage from the many qualified and experienced professionals that were in attendance.

Why does insurance matter?

The unexpected events of the past few years, have made financial protection a front of mind matter for most Australians. Now more than ever we appreciate that life does not always go the way we plan. Having a plan in place if things do take an unexpected turn can mean that our health, lifestyle and family are better protected.

If you don’t have any type of personal insurance cover, or you have not reviewed it with your Financial Adviser for a while, now is a good time to do so.

Types of insurance

There are a few different types of insurance that you should consider, based on what matters to you and what you would most like protected if you were to suffer illness, injury, disablement or premature death. It’s best to discuss insurance options with your Financial Adviser as they can tell you what different types of insurance policies are available, what they cover, and how to structure them in your overall financial plan, based on your individual situation and goals.

The types of insurance policies you may discuss are:

🔸Life insurance
🔸Total and Permanent Disablement insurance
🔸Critical illness insurance also called Trauma cover
🔸Income Protection insurance.

The benefits of an insurance policy:

✅FAMILY FIRST
You and your loved ones count on your income to enjoy a certain standard of living, which is why insurance is particularly important if you have dependents. It means the people who matter most in your life are protected from financial hardship if your income stopped.

✅LESS STRESS
Profound unforeseen illness, injury, permanent disability, and death –are not nice to think about but these events happen. If it happened to your family it would probably be an extremely challenging time, wrought with emotional stress, and even grief. With personal insurance in place, the financial stress can be reduced, allowing you to focus on getting well, and rebuilding your life.

✅FINANCIAL SECURITY
Illness, injury and disablement do not come cheap. If you needed funds to recover from illness or injury would you have enough disposable income to cover medical bills whilst still paying your household expenses? Could you modify the home if need be? Would you want access to the best medical cover, treatments and rehabilitation options?

Insurance provides financial security so your life can continue with as much normalcy as possible, whilst you seek the best care available.

At a time when everything else seems out of control, it is good to know your financial security isn’t!

The difference a Financial Adviser can make:

Data collected by APRA found that in the case of Total & Permanent Disability cover, the “claim declined” rate was around double for claimants who arranged their cover direct with the insurer than for claimants who went through an adviser. In other words, you have a much greater chance of success with an adviser.

A Financial Adviser looks at your specific circumstances, your lifestyle, goals and appetite to risk. Together you can discuss personal insurance policies, tapping into their expert knowledge and understanding of the requirements of insurance providers. You can also discuss options for holding insurance inside and outside of superannuation and, should you need to make a claim on a policy, your Financial Adviser can liaise with insurance companies and superannuation entities on your behalf as your advocate.

If it’s time to consider personal insurance cover , or you want to review your existing policy, a Financial Adviser is willing and able to assist you.

Superannuation Guarantee (SG) requires employer to pay a minimum level of super support for eligible employees. One criteria for an employee to be eligible is based on that employee’s monthly earnings being at least $450 per month. However, this threshold is abolished from 1 July 2022.

This measure primarily assists low-income earners to have employer contributions paid to super boosting their retirement savings.

SG contributions count towards your concessional contribution cap and should be taken into consideration when determining any other contributions made.

Business owners should review their processes to ensure that SG is paid for all eligible employees. Penalties may apply if SG is unpaid or paid late. Further information on SG can be found by visiting ato.gov.au

What next?
Speak to your financial adviser for more information on the changes and how it may provide opportunities for you. Further general information can be found on the ATO website.

I am sure like many of you there will be moments in the coming months where things feel overwhelming.

So I am sharing this post as a reminder to myself (and anyone else) to keep on going while we navigate through these uncharted times

I got a nice little surprise earlier this week (but a very welcome one in these unprecedented times). Funnily enough I missed the webinar from the M3...

If you are struggling to determine the best way forward for your financial situation here are some general considerations on financially surviving COVID19:

1) Instead of deferring mortgage repayments consider making interest only repayments. This may help your cash flow without impacting on your loan balance while you navigate through these uncertain times.
2) Consider applying for COVID19 financial stimulus support (jobseeker, jobkeeper, temporary early access to super). These are temporary measures to assist eligible Australians during these unprecedented times. Remember this too will pass.
3) If you are unable to pay some of your bills then get in touch with your service provider as soon as you can. They will talk you through a range of options that may be suitable for you.
4) Be sensible when allocating your available cash resources. In theory, your discretionary spending should reduce due to social-distancing and self-isolation rules thus allowing funds to be allocated to meet your non-negotiable, fixed living costs for the time being.
5) Try and prioritize your needs. Surviving the short term uncertainty will allow you to come out the other side once our health and economic systems move to recovery.
6) Finally, take a deep breath . Be kind, be sensible and stay safe.
