This week at BNI Referral Leaders Bunbury, we heard from Louise from Plan + Do HQ about something so many business owners quietly struggle with — growth that starts to feel overwhelming.

Today, Carrina Hampton delivered her BNI Feature Presentation about Psychologically Safe WA sharing why psychological safety is no longer just a wellbeing conversation; it is a leadership, culture, business performance and work health and safety issue.

Carrina spoke about the 2022 changes to Western Australia’s work health and safety regulations around psychosocial hazards, and the reality that many business owners are now expected to identify and manage risks such as workload pressure, conflict, bullying, poor support, unclear roles and workplace stress, often without clear guidance on where to begin.

Through Psychologically Safe WA, WA Mental Health supports businesses with a practical Compliance Review and Accreditation Pathway, helping leaders understand what is working well, where psychosocial risks may be sitting, and what steps can strengthen culture, communication and team support.

Psychological safety is not about being “soft”. It is about leading well, preventing harm, strengthening teams and creating workplaces where people can speak up, contribute and perform at their best.

BNI members are invited to lead the way in psychological safety, either within their own workplaces or by referring business owners who may be navigating stress, staff turnover, conflict, burnout or unclear support systems.
