YES YOU DO!

💯 Yes! You need to tell us about all of your income, including any cash-in-hand income.

It doesn't matter if your wages or tips are paid in cash, or you get cash from online gigs, you need to report it in your tax return.

Payday Super changes
With the upcoming changes into payday super, the ATO has announced that late payment offsets will no longer be available.
What's that you ask?
If you have super that will be paid late, you can no longer lodge this payment with the super fund, but will need to pay the amount in full together with penalties and interest with an SGC statement through the ATO.

Congratulations to the team at Wardandi Miya-k Kaadadjiny Aboriginal Corporation (WMKAC) who have authored and illustrated this beautiful children's book written in Noongar language in a bid to keep their culture alive.
It really is stunning.
For copies for your school, childcare or home library, head over to their website.

Once forbidden from speaking their local language, a group of Indigenous elders in WA use it in a children's book, hoping to breathe life into a dying dialect.

GET READY FOR PAY DAY SUPER Coming 1/7/26 - Here's what you need to know.
Super will need to be delivered to the super fund within 7 days of payday.
New staff will have 20 business days.
Qualifying earnings will be used to calculate super.
STP will report qualifying earnings and total super.
Superfunds have 3 days only to let you know if there's issues, meaning you can fix issues quicker.

WHAT DOESN'T CHANGE:
Remember, if you don't have the correct super details for an employee, you MUST deliver the super to the ATO through an SGC statement. You cannot hang onto an employees super because you don't have the correct details.

Watch this video for more details:

Hear from Emma Rosenzweig, Deputy Commissioner about what Payday Super means for employers. Get ahead of these changes now to be ready for 1 July 2026.

Clarifying DGR eligibility for community sheds (From the ATO)
"We continue to receive Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) applications from NFP organisations that do not meet the open membership requirements under the community sheds category.

Community sheds are charities whose dominant purpose is to advance mental health and prevent or relieve social isolation. A community shed must be open to the community to join and generally not impose criteria restricting membership based on matters such as age, ethnicity or background. Rejecting an application for arbitrary reasons will not constitute open membership.

Membership may only be restricted in relation to gender or Indigenous heritage or both.

To meet the open membership requirement, community sheds must:

have a clear policy and process for nominating and approving all new members without exception
ensure this process is reflected in their governing rules
avoid clauses that allow committee members to reject applicants for unspecified or arbitrary reasons.
We encourage all applicants to review their governing documents carefully and ensure they align with the ATO’s requirements before submitting a DGR application.

If you have questions or need support, our advice service on 1300 130 248 is here to help between 8:00 am to 6:00 pm AEST, Monday to Friday".
