Thinking about making a business purchase before 30 June?

The $20,000 Instant Asset Write-Off can be a valuable opportunity for eligible small businesses.

But before you hit "buy", take a step back.

Over the past few weeks we've looked at cash flow, expenses, paperwork, payroll and profitability.

Now it's time to use that information.

Ask yourself:

✓ Will this purchase help me generate more revenue?

✓ Will it improve efficiency or save time?

✓ Will it improve my profit margins?

✓ Can my cash flow comfortably support it?

✓ Was this already in my business plan, or am I feeling pressure because EOFY is approaching?

A tax deduction can be a great bonus.

But it shouldn't be the reason for the purchase.

The best EOFY investments are the ones that continue delivering value long after June 30 has passed.

If a new piece of equipment, technology, vehicle or tool will genuinely help your business achieve its goals, it may be worth exploring.

If not, there's nothing wrong with waiting until the timing is right.

Good business decisions are rarely driven by deadlines alone.

Let's do this!

A quick EOFY reminder about busy work.

Just because you're flat out doesn't automatically mean you're making the profit you should be.

This week's EOFY task is to step back and look at the bigger picture.

We all get stuck in busy work sometimes. Maybe we're procrastinating, avoiding a difficult task, or simply staying busy because it feels productive.

But busy work can become a black hole if left unchecked.

Spend an hour reviewing your:

• revenue

• expenses

• profit and loss report

• profit margins

• cash flow

• most profitable tasks, jobs, products or services

Ask yourself:

What's working?

What's making money?

What's taking time without delivering a worthwhile return?

Where do I want the business to be this time next year?

While you're at it, identify any "busy work" in your business.

The tasks that keep you occupied but don't actually move the business forward.

Could they be delegated?

Automated?

Stopped altogether?

Sometimes the biggest opportunity for growth isn't doing more.

It's focusing on the things that create the most value.

EOFY isn't just about getting your records ready.

It's a chance to understand your business, make better decisions and head into the new financial year with a clearer plan.

Your busiest work may not be your most profitable.

Let's do this.

Let's talk payroll.

Not because it's exciting.

Because a few small checks now can save a lot of time and stress later.

With payroll reporting requirements and upcoming super changes on the horizon, now is a good time to review.

You don't need to finalise everything before June 30.

The goal is simply to make sure your records are accurate, up to date and ready for the new financial year.

A few small checks now beat a big fix later.

Let's do this.

It’s amazing how often small business owners can tell you exactly how much they invoiced last month...
But not how much quietly left the account.

This week’s EOFY task is simple: Review your recurring expenses.

Look for:
• software subscriptions
• memberships
• apps you no longer use
• duplicate tools
• auto-renewals coming up

EOFY is a great time to ask:
“Is this helping my business grow, or is it just another direct debit?”

Small leaks can add up over a year.

Small steps now make tax time smoother later.

Let’s do this!

We’re officially 5 weeks out from EOFY✨️

But this isn’t an annual “panic” post 😅

This is your reminder that gets a whole lot easier when you tackle small things consistently instead of leaving everything until later.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll share simple, practical tasks you can do now to get yourself into a better position by June 30 and help you plan more clearly for the new financial year ahead.

No overwhelm.
No accountant jargon.
Just helpful reminders from people who care about your business as much as you do.

Because good EOFY prep isn’t about scrambling at the last minute.
It’s about staying organised enough that June doesn’t completely ruin your nervous system.

EOFY is much less stressful when you tackle it in small steps instead of one giant panic.

What’s your biggest EOFY procrastination task right now?

Let’s do this.

This photo was taken at my desk back in 2019, and like many of us, I had no idea how much the world was about to change.

It has been a while since I properly introduced myself here, so I thought I would pop in and say hello.

I’m Rebecca Francis, founder of Alaco White.

With over 20+ years working with Australian businesses, I know accounting is about far more than tax returns and compliance. It is about helping people feel clearer, more organised, and more confident in where their business is heading.

One of the things I value most is being able to live and work within the Bunyip community. Supporting local businesses and the people behind them is a big part of why I do what I do.

At Alaco White, I focus on ongoing support throughout the year, not just at tax time.
