If you've ever caught yourself thinking, "I'm just not good with money," you're not alone.
Your money mindset often gets overlooked. It’s often a key driver behind financial decisions, good and bad, and usually starts with what you heard during childhood.
*️⃣ What’s a money mindset (and why it matters): Your beliefs around money can either support or sabotage your financial wellbeing, many of them come from childhood.
👉 Take 2 minutes to jot down the first 5 words that come to mind when you hear the word "money."
*️⃣ How stories like “we never had enough” shape today's habits: what you heard created beliefs & those beliefs often drive scarcity or overspending behaviours.
👉 What did you hear about money growing up. Was it helpful or damaging?
*️⃣ Becoming aware of your beliefs is the first big step: Awareness leads to choice. Once you notice a pattern, you can decide if it’s still serving you…or whether to change it!
👉 Over the next week, write down any emotional reactions you have to money decisions—like bills or spending. Think about how money makes you feel, is it good or a bit ick?
*️⃣ Start reshaping your money story: Start with your mindset, create new beliefs that serve your future.
👉 Replace one limiting money belief with a positive one. For example, we once asked a client who’d been sharing her “I’m hopeless with money” story to “That’s not a priority right now” and to share the change of language with her daughters. She said that simple change of language made her feel different.
If you're curious about the patterns guiding your financial choices, let's unpack them together, it could totally transform your future money story.
