In December, the Vivid team enjoyed good food, great company, and fun activities in the lead-up to Christmas.

We competed against each other in escape rooms, The Vault, The House on the Hill and Curio, and the winners were ….. team Curio! Congratulations to Brad, Meg, Alex and Az for the win and smashing the average time by 20 minutes!

We were also treated to a performance by Brad (after some gentle persuading) with a remix of All I Want for Christmas Is You and Jingle Bell Rock. 🎸🎤

Now we are back in full swing for 2026!

The Vivid team attended an interstate conference in Brisbane last week, which included activities and staff bonding time. 😊

We enjoyed an evening circus-cabaret show and a day at Moreton Island, involving a ferry trip, sand tobogganing, beach swimming, a 4WD bus experience and whale sighting!

A wonderful trip with many laughs, delicious food, lots of action and new memories to cherish forever!

Vivid turns 10!

On 6th July 2015 Vivid Accounting was established by Partners James Watt and Thomas Boyd.

James and Tom have known each other from their early 20’s and when the opportunity arose to work together and start the business, they couldn’t resist! Their commitment to achieving the best financial outcomes for clients and their passion for the industry is where it all began.

On Friday night our team and their partners celebrated Vivid’s 10th anniversary! An evening in black tie attire at the Boat House, involving a delicious dinner, speeches, a game, staff awards and plenty of wonderful conversations and laughs.

Alex, Meg and Nina took out the awards for the night, as voted by the team. Congrats to the winners!

Cheers to Vivid and the many more years ahead!

The foreign resident capital gains withholding rules have changed and Australian residents selling property will require a clearance certificate from the ATO, or withholding will apply to the transaction.

Most clearance certificates will be issued within a few days, but some may take up to 28 days, so apply early!

On Friday, the Vivid Chartered Accountants team had the privilege of attending the Win The Day charity race day, an event dedicated to supporting families facing the challenges of rare childhood cancer.

We partnered with ECG Electrical to donate $6,000 to a deserving family who, after facing unimaginable challenges, will now be able to take a much-needed holiday.

Win The Day works tirelessly to raise awareness, fund research, and provide vital support—accommodation, meals, and emotional care—for families navigating a childhood cancer diagnosis.

Have you been entered into the ATO PAYG instalment system?

Pay as you go (PAYG) instalments is an ATO system for making regular payments towards your expected annual income tax.

The ATO will automatically work out whether you need to pay PAYG instalments and calculate the instalment amount based on the information you reported in your latest tax return.

What’s new with study and training loans? The indexation rate calculation

The indexation rate calculation change has passed parliament. Once law, this change will be backdated and the ATO will start processing recredits for 2023 and 2024 indexation rate changes.

Meet the team:

Ulzana Azambayeva (aka Zana) was born and raised in Kazakhstan, moved to Canberra 8 years ago to study, and has been with the Vivid team for over 1 year.

Zana provides clients with accounting services such as tax returns, financial statements, and activity statements. She is passionate about accounting, building on her knowledge and experience, and thrives on helping clients with their tax requirements.

Outside of work, Zana enjoys puzzles, video games, movies, rollercoasters, eating and travelling, especially to see her family back home.

Zana always has a positive attitude, she is friendly, fun and makes us laugh when her cheeky side comes out. We love working with her!

A few of our staff attended the annual Farrar Gesini Dunn Charity Golf Day in support of Fearless Women.

Fearless Women is dedicated to helping girls and young women in the ACT fear less and live life with confidence, courage, resilience and hope.

What an Ace looking team! I hope their skills were on Par with one another and hopefully the guy on the right was swooped by a Birdie.
