📢 ATTENTION XERO USERS: Big Super Changes are coming! 📣
It might feel a long way off, but 1 July 2026 marks one of the biggest shifts in Australian payroll: Payday Super.
At Elite Bookkeeping Solutions, we want to make sure you aren’t caught off guard. Here is what you need to know right now:
✅ The Timing: No more quarterly payments. From July 2026, super must be paid at the same time as wages and reach the fund within 7 business days. 🗓️💸
✅ The Terminology: We are moving away from Ordinary Time Earnings (OTE). Xero is currently rolling out updates to transition everyone to Qualifying Earnings (QE), a new, broader base for calculating super. ⚙️💻
✅ The Cash Flow: Super will now leave your bank account every payday. Whether you pay weekly, fortnightly, or monthly, you need to review your cash flow planning now to handle these more frequent payments. 📉💰
Xero is on the case! 🛠️ They are already rolling out the "QE" infrastructure. We are monitoring these updates closely and will keep you posted on exactly how and when to update your pay items. 👀

📢 BIG NEWS for Parents & Employers! Super on Paid Parental Leave Starts 1 July 2025

The government has passed new laws to help close the gender super gap. Here’s what you need to know:

👶Who’s Eligible?
✔ Parents with babies born or adopted from 1 July 2025
✔ Receiving government-funded PPL

💰 How Much Super Will You Get?
➡ 12% of your PPL payment (based on Super Guarantee rate)
➡ Plus a small interest amount (to cover delayed payment)

⏳ When Will You Get It?
📅 Super contributions will be paid once a year (starting July 2026)
🔹 Paid as a lump sum into your nominated super fund

📝 No Extra Forms!
✅ The ATO calculates & pays automatically (using data from Services Australia)
✅ You’ll get a notice confirming payment details

💡 Why Does This Matter?
🔸 Helps reduce the super gap for women
🔸 Recognises unpaid care work in retirement savings
🔸 No extra work for employers—handled by the ATO

⚠️ Important Notes:
❗ Counts towards your concessional contributions cap ($30,000/yr)
