As a business owner and a mum, time is something I never seem to have enough of. Most days are spent juggling clients, deadlines, school runs, family life, and everything in between; so professional development often happens after hours.

Last night was spent finishing assessments to complete my Level 3 Xero Certified Specialist credential 🎉📊

Running a business means constantly learning and evolving so I can continue providing the best possible support and service to my clients. It’s not always easy finding the time, but growth is always worth the effort.

Behind every small business is a lot of unseen hard work, determination, and late nights. 💙

Great news for anyone with a study or training support loan!

A one-off 20% reduction is now law and will apply to all study and training debts that existed as of 1 June 2025.

✅ The ATO will automatically apply this reduction, you don’t need to do anything.
✅ The 20% will be calculated based on your loan balance before indexation was applied on 1 June 2025.

Don’t let your bank balance fool you. 💸

Cash flow keeps things moving, but it doesn’t reflect true profitability. Just because there’s money in the bank doesn’t mean your business is performing well.

Your Profit & Loss (P&L) statement tells the real story: breaking down revenue, expenses, and profit. That’s why we send P&Ls to clients every quarter with their activity statements, and meet monthly with some to review the numbers together.

A business might look healthy on cash alone, but after factoring in unpaid invoices, upcoming costs, tax, GST or deferred income, it could be running at a loss. On the other hand, a business investing in growth might have tight cash now but be profitable long term.

👉 Use your P&L to: measure profitability and guide decisions (your balance sheet plays a role too, but that’s a topic for another day).
👉 Use your bank account, and other tools: to manage cash flow.

Don’t wait until tax time to review your historical financial data, look at the numbers regularly to stay in control.
