Out on our place, the winter crop's looking pretty good considering the dry run we've had.

Like every other farmer right now, we're watching the sky. We're close to planting sorghum, just waiting on the next decent rain event before we pull the trigger.

In the meantime, harvest prep has already started, and we're deep in recruitment to make sure we've got the right people on the ground when it counts.

It's a good reminder of why we built AgBooks the way we did. When the season's calling the shots on planting, staffing and cashflow all at once, the last thing you need is to be guessing at your numbers too.

What's the season looking like on your place right now?

There was one non-negotiable when building the AgBooks team: no generalists learning agriculture on the job at a farmer’s expense.

Many of our bookkeepers live and work in rural and regional Australia themselves. They’re not learning your world from a textbook, they already know why June needs handling differently, why your cashflow looks the way it does between sales, and why fuel tax credits are real money.

And behind your dedicated bookkeeper sits a 34-person Australian team with specialist depth across Xero, Figured, BAS and payroll. So when your bookkeeper is off, seeding, calving, life, the system keeps working.

No coverage gaps. No three-week silences. No explaining farming from scratch.

Quick question...

Do you know your cost of production right now?

Per tonne. Per kilo. Per head. Whatever you grow or run.

Not a gut feel. Not "roughly what it was last year." The actual number.

Here's why we ask: it's the single number that turns every other decision on the farm into an easier one. What to plant. When to sell. Whether that agistment offer stacks up. Whether the cattle are carrying the cropping or the other way around.

And it's the number most farms, even really well-run ones, can't put their finger on.

So, honestly:

🟢 Yes, down to the dollar
🟡 Ballpark, could be out a bit
🔴 Haven't got a clue and don't want to talk about it

Say hello to Kylie, who was born and bred in Western Queensland🌾

Numbers sorted, BAS lodged, reports out the door, Kylie is one of the ag bookkeeping specialists making that happen behind the scenes at AgBooks.

Like the rest of the team, she comes to AgBooks from our parent brand, Diverse Bookkeeping, so while AgBooks might be a newer name, the hands on your books are anything but.

100% Australian team. Real people. This is one of them. 👋

Here's what a typical new AgBooks client looks like.

Mixed operation, cropping and cattle. Family-run. Turning over well into seven figures.

The books? Eighteen months of "we'll get to it."

Not because anyone was lazy. Because everyone was busy actually farming. The bookkeeping fell to whoever had a spare evening, and spare evenings don't exist between seeding and harvest.

By the time they called us, they weren't asking for perfect books. They were asking for three things:

1. Stop the BAS panic
2. Tell us if the cattle are actually making money
3. Take it off our plate. Properly, permanently

That's it. That's what almost every farm asks us in the first phone call, in one form or another.

And here's the part nobody believes until they see it: within a couple of months, the backlog is gone, the reports arrive without chasing, and the books are just... handled.

No judgement about the state of your file. We've seen worse. We've fixed worse.

If this sounds like your operation, the first conversation costs nothing.

We get asked this one all the time.

"You're not near us, how does that even work?"

Fair question. Here's the honest answer.

We don't come to your kitchen table. And it turns out that's a feature, not a bug.

Everything runs through Xero and Figured, in the cloud. Your paperwork gets snapped on your phone or emailed in. Bank feeds come through automatically. Your bookkeeper is on the phone or on a video call whenever you need them, not once a quarter when they can make the drive.

Which means:

✔ You're not limited to whoever happens to be in town
✔ You get a specialist ag bookkeeper, wherever your farm is
✔ The books get done every month — rain, dust or harvest
✔ And when you ring, the person answering is in Australia and knows your file

We've got clients we've never met in person whose books are in the best shape they've ever been.

Distance stopped being a barrier the day farm bookkeeping went to the cloud. What matters now isn't where your bookkeeper sits, it's whether they understand farming.

Every farm that comes to us has a moment where they decide the books can't stay in-house anymore.

It's rarely dramatic. It's usually just one BAS too many, one late night too many, or one question from the bank they couldn't answer.

Swipe through. These are the real reasons farms hand their bookkeeping to AgBooks. 👉

If one of these is you, you already know what to do.

Meet Rowena 🌾

If AgBooks looks after your books, or will one day, this is one of the faces behind them.

Rowena is one of our ag bookkeeping specialists, and part of the award-winning Diverse Bookkeeping team that AgBooks was built from. Which means the experience behind your monthly reports isn't new, just the name on the door.

Behind every clean BAS, every reconciled account and every report that lands on time, there's a real person who knows your file inside out.

We think you should know who they are. 👋

Our whole team just signed up for six weeks of Figured training.

Not because we have to. Because this is what specialising in agriculture actually looks like.

Every week through August, the AgBooks team is in live training sessions covering the tools we use to run your farm's numbers:

🌾 Cropping
🐄 Livestock and valuations
📊 Reporting
📈 Scenario planning: what happens if the season turns, prices move, or you take on more country

Every session is run on real farm files, by the people who built the software.

Here's why that matters to you: when your bookkeeper genuinely knows the difference between a livestock reconciliation and a crop tracking schedule, and knows the software inside out, your reports stop being paperwork and start being decisions.

Plenty of bookkeepers can take on a farm client.

We train for them. Every week. On purpose.

That's the difference.
