Apple Business Consultancy

Apple Business Consultancy Apple Business Consultancy provides a professional BAS Agent and Business Support service through use of accounting packages such as Xero and MYOB.

My name is Katrina and I run a BAS Agent bookkeeping business where our team assist small to medium business owners with keeping the books of account to trial balance and turning them into not only BAS and tax compliance records, but also meaningful accounts to assist in important strategic business decisions. My street credibility is 28 years in small business, starting my own BAS Agent bookkeepi

ng business in 2007 that has evolved into a cloud accounting specialist business. Cloud technology has allowed for efficiencies and we are pleased to now be able to consult with our clients and give them invaluable information on their business. The add-on market has now made reporting for small business within reach, once only available for larger business. Monthly low cost subscriptions are now affordable to extract important information to help with business analysis. My formal qualifications are a Bachelor of Commerce graduating in 2013 from Curtin University, a diploma in business studies completed in 2004. I have also completed my cert iv in life coaching and mentoring through Global Coaching Academy. My experience as a small business owner, started at 18 yrs of age in catering and running a food court business. In 1997, I commenced working as a clerk in an accounts department, gaining solid grounding in processes and bookkeeping requirements for a small business. In 2000, at the commencement of GST in Australia, I began my tax accounting career in public practice that spanned eight years. In 2007 I began my BAS Agent business, after realising that the journey and study to become a CPA or CA accountant was not my passion. I built my business and a team of 4 bookkeepers and provided a successful business that was in the top 5% in size and turnover for a BAS Agent bookkeeping practice nationwide. In 2014 Apple Business Consultancy reinvented itself and became a full cloud accounting BAS Agent Bookkeeping business specialising in MYOB and Xero. Personally, I am a mother, a business and career woman who is passionate about providing a professional service and keeping abreast of changes in the tax profession where I can assist my clients with the mindfield of compliance and interpreting tax and GST. Having walked this walk myself and by using the same tools and resources that is offered to my clients, I have evolved, reinvented and achieved success and I am well and truly qualified and experienced to walk this walk alongside my clients.

🔌💡Winter Bill Shock? Here Are Some Quick Energy Wins! ❄️

At Apple Business Consultancy, we’re all about helping you take control of your finances—and that doesn’t stop at your business books.

As the temps drop, the temptation to crank the heater up is real—but your electricity bill might not love it as much as you do! 🥶💸

Here are some smart, simple ways to trim your energy use (and keep more money in your pocket) this winter:
✅ Set your heater to 18°C and pop on a warm layer—each extra degree can add up to 10% to your heating costs!
✅ Let in the morning sun ☀️—free heating at its finest.
✅ Boil only the water you need. Yes, even that kettle is an energy-hog when full!
✅ Close off unused rooms—only heat the spaces you need.
✅ Switch ceiling fans to winter mode to push warm air back down.
✅ Choose the air fryer over the oven—it’s small, fast, and energy-efficient.
✅ Rethink the dryer—sun and wind are free!

💭 Little daily habits = long-term savings.

You don’t need to overhaul your life to make a difference—just start small and be consistent. For more helpful tips or to understand your Synergy bill better, check out the full article here:

I felt that 2 pm slump hit me square in the middle of the end-of-financial-year madness today—emails piling up, brain feeling like mush, and my water bottle mysteriously empty. It reminded me how crucial it is to stay hydrated and fuel our brains properly.

If you’re eating less than 15% of your day’s calories before 11 am, you’re basically asking your brain (which uses about 20–30% of your daily energy!) to run on fumes. That mid-morning stretch of just coffee and a quick snack sets you up for a blood-sugar rollercoaster: spike, crash, and suddenly everyone’s dragging their heels come 2 pm.

Here’s what helped me power through today—and could help you too:
• Hydration check: Keep that bottle topped up and sip regularly.
• Protein-packed breakfast: Greek yogurt with nuts, scrambled eggs and spinach, or a protein smoothie.
• Smart snack: Fruit or veggie sticks with hummus or nut butter mid-morning.
• Balanced lunch: Lean protein + veggies + whole grains so you don’t spike and crash.

Small changes early can transform your energy all afternoon—especially when you’re racing to wrap up the financial year.

💧 Drop a “💧” in the comments if you’re staying hydrated today, and share your go-to brain-fuel snack! 🚀

Hey folks—quick FYI as we roll into the new financial year:

Wages +3.5%: From the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2025, all award rates (and the National Minimum Wage) rise by 3.5% .

Super ↑12%: Super Guarantee jumps to 12% of ordinary time earnings on all wages paid from 1 July 2025 .

Pro tip: “Above-award” pay doesn’t automatically cover penalty rates/overtime unless penalties are explicitly bundled into a registered agreement or valid Individual Flexibility Agreement. Otherwise, you still need to apply the higher penalty percentages for evenings, weekends & public holidays.

Next steps:

Audit your pay cycles to spot the first full pay run starting on/after 1 July.

Update award rates, penalty loadings (where needed) and SG settings in your payroll system.

🔎 Stay Alert: Tax-Time Scams Are on the Rise 🔎

With tax season in full swing, scammers are ramping up efforts to impersonate the ATO through emails, texts, and calls—often promising quick refunds or urgent account updates. These scams are becoming increasingly sophisticated, with a reported 300% increase in ATO impersonation email scams compared to last year.

✅ Stop – Never share your myGov sign-in details, Tax File Number (TFN), or bank information unless you trust the recipient and they genuinely require these details. If in doubt, don’t disclose anything.

✅ Check – Be cautious of unsolicited messages, especially those containing links or QR codes. The ATO will never send an email or SMS with a link to log in to online services.

✅ Protect – If something feels off, don't engage. Instead, verify the communication by contacting the ATO directly at 1800 008 540 or visiting their official website.

Heads up, employers!

If you want to claim a tax deduction for your employee super contributions this financial year, those payments need to hit the super fund’s bank account by 30 June 2025.

⚠️ That means you can’t just authorise it on 30 June — it needs to have cleared. Some clearing houses take a few business days, so now is the time to action those payments.

If you’re not sure if your super is set up correctly or paid on time, reach out. I'm happy to point you in the right direction.

Let’s get those tax deductions locked in before the clock runs out.
