This is one of those client stories that makes us really love what we do.

A client came to us in their late 20s with a pretty big goal: retire by 50.

They wanted to build wealth, but also wanted the flexibility to enjoy life along the way. So we worked backwards from what they wanted their future to look like and built a plan around it.

Investments they could access before super. A better strategy for their super. Protection in place. And a clear path towards that retirement goal.

And the best part?

The numbers now stack up.

We’re both big believers in investing and building wealth, but we also know there’s a lot more to life than your investment balance.

We want our clients to be able to enjoy their money, their families, their careers, their weekends and all the things that make life good while still making smart decisions for their future.

Because financial planning isn’t about putting your life on hold until retirement. It’s about making sure the life you want is possible, now and later 🤎

So what do we actually do?

The simple answer is: we help people make better decisions with their money.

But really, it’s about helping people create the life they want.

We know that because we’re doing the same thing ourselves.

As mums of young kids, we think a lot about the future.

Not just financially, but what we want our lives to look like. More time with family. Being there for the important moments. Having choices.

That’s a big part of why we love financial planning.

We sit down with clients and talk about what matters to them.

Maybe it’s retiring comfortably.

Maybe it’s helping their kids.

Maybe it’s travelling more.

Maybe it’s having the option to work a little less.

Then we get to do our favourite part… putting the numbers together and seeing what’s possible.

We genuinely love building plans, running projections and finding ways to help people move closer to their goals (yes, we know that makes us financial planning nerds 😂).

Because money isn’t the end goal.

It’s the thing that helps you create the life you want to live.

🚨 Retirement checklist:

✅ Build your super
✅ Pay down debt
✅ Dream about holidays
❌ Try to understand Centrelink on your own

Let’s be honest… Centrelink isn’t exactly light reading. 😅

Between Age Pension rules, asset tests, income tests and paperwork, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed.

The good news is that retirement planning is about more than just your super balance 💡

It’s about making informed decisions so you can spend less time worrying about the rules and more time enjoying the retirement you’ve worked hard for. 🌅🍷

What’s the biggest retirement question you’d love answered? 👇

Let’s talk about the thing everyone avoids talking about… 👀

Insurance.

Yep, we said it. 😅

It’s probably not as exciting as booking a holiday ✈️, renovating your home 🏡, or planning your next big adventure 🚀

But it’s about something far more important; protecting the people who make those moments worth it.

Because life doesn’t always follow the plan.
Families grow. Responsibilities change. Unexpected moments happen.

It’s not about expecting the worst. It’s about making sure the people you love are supported through life’s unexpected moments.

Because behind every financial plan is a family, a story, and a future worth protecting 🤎

💰 A budget isn’t about restricting your lifestyle.

It’s about making sure your money is supporting the lifestyle you actually want.

Whether your goal is to travel more, build wealth, reduce financial stress, spend more time with family, or create greater flexibility in your work life, it all starts with understanding where your money is going.

One thing we’ve noticed recently when reviewing client cash flow?

📱 Subscriptions.

Streaming services.
Music platforms.
Fitness apps.
Cloud storage.
Online memberships.
AI tools.
Food delivery memberships.

Individually, they don’t seem like much.

But collectively, they can add up to hundreds or even thousands of dollars each year.

This isn’t about cancelling everything you enjoy. In fact, some subscriptions provide incredible value.

It’s simply a reminder that when creating a budget, the small recurring expenses are often the easiest to overlook.

As we settle into the new financial year, take a few minutes to review your spending and ask yourself:

👉 Is my money going towards the things that matter most to me?
👉 Am I paying for things I genuinely use and value?
👉 Does my spending align with the goals I’m working towards?

The best budget isn’t the one that spends the least. It’s the one that aligns your money with the life you want to live.

🌱 One of the biggest misconceptions about investing?

That you need a lot of money to get started.

In reality, one of the most powerful forces in investing isn’t how much you invest, but time.

Imagine planting a tree.

In the beginning, growth seems slow. Year after year, it doesn’t look like much is happening. But beneath the surface, roots are growing. Then over time, that growth starts to accelerate.

Investing works in a similar way.

Returns generate earnings.
Those earnings generate more earnings.
And over time, the effect can become surprisingly powerful.

This is known as compound growth and it’s one of the reasons starting early can be more important than starting big.

The challenge is that compounding isn’t exciting at first. It rewards patience, consistency and long-term thinking. But that’s often how meaningful wealth is built.

Not through perfect timing.
Not through chasing the latest trend.

Just by investing regularly and giving your money time to do what it does best.

🌳 The best time to plant a tree was years ago.

The next best time is today.

📅 The calendar has ticked over to a new financial year.

But before you set savings targets, update spreadsheets, or promise yourself you’ll “be better with money” this year…

Ask yourself a different question:

What do I want my life to look like this time next year?

Maybe it’s:
☕ More slow mornings and less stress.
✈️ A holiday that’s been on the wish list for years.
🏡 Progress towards a home.
👨‍👩‍👧 More time with family.
💼 Greater flexibility at work.
🌱 The confidence that comes from feeling in control.

The truth is, money is rarely the goal.

It’s the tool.

The goal is the life you’re trying to build.

A new financial year is a chance to make sure every dollar has a purpose and every financial decision is moving you closer to the things that genuinely matter to you - not what social media, friends, or society says success should look like.

The best financial plan isn’t necessarily the one that makes you the richest. It’s the one that helps you live the life you actually want.

So before setting financial goals this year, start with life goals.

The money part comes after that ✨

🎉 Super is finally getting an overhaul.

From 1 July, super will be paid at the same time as wages, making it easier to track, improving transparency, and helping Australians keep more of what they’ve earned working for their future.

It’s a simple change that’s been a long time coming and one we’re excited to see.

After all, your super is your money. It should be paid when you get paid

🚨 EOFY Countdown: Activated 🚨

Before 30 June rolls around, give your finances a quick glow-up ✨

✔️ Topped up your super?
✔️ Checked if you could make tax-deductible contributions?
✔️ Reviewed your investments?
✔️ Sorted your insurance cover?
✔️ Got your paperwork ready for tax time?

A few small moves before EOFY could make a bigger difference than you think. Don’t leave it until you’re frantically Googling “EOFY checklist” at 11:57pm on 30 June 😅

If you’ve been thinking about boosting your super before 30 June, now is the time to review your contribution limits and make sure any contributions are received by your fund before the deadline.

A few EOFY reminders:

💰 Book your tax appointment.
🗂️ Start gathering your tax documents but don’t panic if they’re not all available on 1 July!

Many investment platforms, managed funds, and income protection insurers don’t issue their annual tax statements until September or even October. Waiting for these documents before lodging your tax return can help avoid amendments later.

The new financial year is a great time to get organised and set yourself up for success. Your future self might just thank you 😉
