Celebrating the end of another financial year together. ✨

Our Lee Green team recently enjoyed a EOFY team-building day at the Kaurna Cultural Centre, taking time to connect outside the office, learn about the rich history and culture of the Kaurna people and celebrate everything we've achieved together this year.

Here's to another great year ahead!

📋 Important update for our clients - effective 1 July 2026

New Australian laws now require accounting firms to verify the identity of clients before providing certain services.

This is a legal requirement under Australia's expanded Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF) legislation - similar to the ID checks your bank performs when opening a new account.

What to expect:
✅ A secure link sent to you by email
✅ A quick document upload from your phone or computer
✅ Takes just a few minutes

It's straightforward, secure and most people will find it simple to complete.

Payroll doesn’t have to be stressful, but getting it wrong can cost hours, money and your sanity.

Here’s what to focus on:

1. Superannuation – Make sure contributions are correct and paid on time. Even small errors can create big headaches at EOFY.
2. Tax withholding – Deduct the right amount for each employee so they aren’t hit with unexpected bills come tax time.
3. Employee entitlements – Keep track of leave, bonuses, overtime, and pay rates. Missing even one detail can lead to unhappy team members and costly corrections.

✅ Why it matters: Accurate payroll means your team gets paid correctly and on time, you stay compliant with tax rules and you avoid wasting hours fixing errors later.

Super is changing... and it's happening sooner than many businesses realise.

From 1 July 2026, the way employers pay superannuation will fundamentally shift.

Instead of quarterly payments, employers will be required to pay superannuation within 7 business days of each payday.

This is "Payday Super" — and it's already legislated.

What does this mean in practice?

If your family runs a discretionary trust...check the 2026–27 Federal Budget changes.

The Government has proposed a 30% minimum tax on discretionary trust income, commencing 1 July 2028.

For families who use trusts to distribute income to lower-income beneficiaries, this could fundamentally change the tax equation.

There is some relief: a 3-year rollover period (from 1 July 2027) would allow restructuring into companies or fixed trusts without immediate CGT consequences — but only if you plan ahead.
Superannuation funds, fixed trusts and deceased estates are exempt.

These changes aren't yet legislated — but waiting to act could cost you the opportunity to restructure on favourable terms.

The 2026–27 Federal Budget proposes some of the most significant tax changes Australia has seen in decades.

Negative gearing. Capital gains. Discretionary trusts. All on the table.
These are still proposals — not yet legislated.

But if enacted, the impact on property investors, family trusts, and business owners could be substantial.

Now is the time to understand what's coming and whether your current structures still make sense.

EOFY Panic? Let’s Make It Simple!

Q: Can I claim expenses from this financial year?

A: Yes! If it’s business-related, before 30 June, and you’ve got receipts. Keep those receipts like treasure, your future self will thank you.

Q: How do I make concessional super contributions?

A: Feed your super before EOFY! Up to $30,000 goes in, and you might even reduce your tax. Think of it as giving your retirement a head start.

Q: Do I need to reconcile accounts before EOFY?

A: Absolutely. Think of it like tidying your wardrobe before a big party, everything in the right place, so you don’t trip over anything.

EOFY SMSF Cheat Sheet: 3 Things You Can’t Ignore

1️⃣ Contributions Check ~ Are your concessional and non-concessional contributions on track? Top them up before 30 June to make the most of your tax benefits.

2️⃣ Investments Under the Microscope ~ EOFY is the perfect time to review your SMSF investments. Are they still helping you reach your retirement goals?

3️⃣ Compliance = Peace of Mind ~ Reporting, audits, documentation… yes, it’s a lot, but staying on top now saves headaches (and fines) later.

A wonderful evening celebrating an incredible milestone. ✨

The Lee Green team was proud to attend the Little Heroes Foundation 30th Anniversary Gala Ball, recognising three decades of life-changing support for children with dementia and their families.

It was a fantastic opportunity to come together with fellow supporters, celebrate the Foundation's impact and contribute to a cause that makes a real difference in our community.
