🎂 Happy Birthday to Sari Weymouth! 🎉

Today we’re celebrating Sari, one of our Accountants here at BHT Partners.

Sari joined the BHT team in May 2024 and brings a wealth of experience across accounting, taxation, audit, compliance, and superannuation. In 2025, she achieved an important professional milestone by completing her CPA qualification, further strengthening the expertise she provides to our clients.

Outside of work, Sari enjoys spending time with family and friends, building Lego with her children, keeping active at the gym, and getting outdoors for bike rides and walks. 🚲🏃‍♀️

The BHT Partners team recently came together to celebrate the end of another successful financial year with our EOFY dinner at Estelle.

It was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on everything we've achieved together, enjoy some incredible food, and spend time together outside the office.

While we're passionate about supporting our clients, we're equally proud of the team behind everything we do. Building strong relationships, celebrating milestones, and taking time to recognise our people are all part of what makes BHT Partners a great place to work.

Start the new financial year on the right foot by staying on top of your key ATO deadlines 📅

📆 14 July
• Finalise STP data for FY2025–26

📆 28 July
• Lodge and pay Q4 activity statement (paper lodgers)
• Pay Q4 instalment notice (Forms R, S or T)
• Make Q4 super contributions

📆 31 July
• Lodge Q4 TFN report for closely held trusts

⚠️ Super contributions must be received by the fund by 28 July. Allow extra time for processing to avoid missing the deadline.

💡 Payday Super starts from 1 July 2026, and the Small Business Super Clearing House has closed. Speak with your accountant if you're unsure what this means for your business.

The RBA’s new payment reforms will introduce major changes for Australian small businesses, including:

After many years of dedication, leadership, and service to our clients and team, Melinda McAllister will retire as Partner and Director of BHT Partners on 30 June 2026.

Melinda has been a Director of BHT Partners since 2007 and has spent more than 35 years helping business owners navigate their financial, taxation, and business challenges with confidence.

Throughout her time at BHT Partners, Melinda has played an important role in shaping our firm, leading our Audit & Assurance team, building long-standing client relationships, and fostering a positive workplace culture where people can learn, grow, and succeed.

While Melinda is stepping down from her leadership role, we're pleased that she will continue supporting BHT Partners in a part-time advisory capacity.

𝗣𝗮𝘆𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱.

From 1 July, employers will need to calculate super using 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗳𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 (QE) instead of Ordinary Time Earnings (OTE).

That means some payroll payments that previously did not attract super may now need to be included.

Examples that may count under QE include:
✅ Commissions
✅ Salary sacrifice amounts
✅ Directors’ fees
✅ Some contractor payments

Still generally excluded:
❌ Overtime payments
❌ Unused leave on termination
❌ Expense allowances

👉 If your payroll system has not been reviewed recently, now is a good time to check whether your setup is ready for Payday Super.
