"Every dollar counts in this high-rate environment, and our team continues to reassess client loans and negotiate rate discounts where appropriate."

📢 RBA Increases Cash Rate to 4.60% - Our Director of Lending Simon Podger gives his commentary.

She said YES! 🥂
Huge congratulations to Jayden Bergstrom from our financial advice team, and his fiancée Astha, on their very romantic engagement last weekend.

👉🏽 The RBA has held the cash rate at 4.35%.

Our Director of Lending, Simon Podger, says today's decision reflects a mixed economic picture:

Recent inflation data has continued to ease, although it remains above the RBA's target range. At the same time, the labour market has remained more resilient than expected, giving the RBA little reason to move rates today.

While three consecutive rate increases have already flowed through, the full impact is still working its way through the economy. For now, the RBA has chosen to wait and assess further data.

One practical reminder for borrowers:

ASIC has recently highlighted that many offset accounts have not been correctly linked to home loans, meaning some borrowers have paid more interest than necessary.

Take a moment to check your internet banking, or contact your lender to confirm your offset account has been set up correctly, particularly if you have multiple offset accounts.

Now that we're well into the new financial year, what should you be thinking about?

👉🏽 Strategy, as always.

There are some significant super and tax changes on the horizon this financial year, and the last thing you want is to be making rushed decisions before the NEXT financial year rolls around! The better approach is to consult an expert early and get your strategy locked in now, while there's still plenty of time to plan properly.

Get ahead of the changes rather than reacting to them.

Comment "strategy" and our team will reach out about building yours.

In uncertain times, a lot of financial decisions get made on fear and headlines.
That's understandable, there's plenty going on in the world at the moment. But the question worth pausing on is whether any of it actually helps you get to where you need to go in the long run.

Our approach starts there: goals first, then the strategy - built to serve the goals whilst being conscious of market cycles, but not led by what the media is running that week.

After that, the rest is in the detail:
- What are the timeframes?
- What's the most appropriate structure?
- What investments do we use?
- How does it all come together to achieve your outcome?

👉🏽 A good strategy built around your goals doesn't need rewriting every time the news cycle turns.

If you'd like to talk through your own, comment "strategy" below and we'll reach out.

If you're investing in property through a self-managed super fund, 10th August 2026 is no doubt on your mind! Residential borrowing arrangements can no longer be used to purchase investment properties through an SMSF after that date.

Understandably, that's creating some urgency - but urgency is exactly where poor decisions get made.

Two things worth keeping top of mind:

• If you're executing a contract before 10 August, the priority is making sure the property is genuinely suitable for your circumstances not simply that it fits inside the deadline.
• Life does exist after 10 August! There are still other ways to invest in property, including commercial property and real estate investment trusts (REITs).

The best outcome here isn't the fastest one. It's speaking with an adviser, getting your strategy right, and making a decision you'd still be comfortable with in ten years.

If you're weighing this up, we're happy to talk it through.

"Tax is never the strategy."
A bold statement, especially coming from an accountant 😏

In case you missed it, Gareth & Bodie have had two excellent conversations in conjunction with our friends at Sevenfold Property, following on from the federal budget release in May.

To join the conversation at The Buy-In, watch or listen wherever you get your podcasts - and please let us know your viewpoint 👇🏽

Is Australia taxing the wrong thing? 🧐

What if we taxed people more on what they spend, and less on what they earn?

The case for consumption taxes goes well beyond how much tax we pay. It could change the way we work, earn and grow as a country.

Our budget conversation continues to spark plenty of discussion, so we headed back into the studio last week to keep it going.

The follow-on conversation drops later today. Stay tuned! ⏰
