I was at the BGL Regtech26 recently in Surfers Paradise. The conference had a great showcase of new software features, great lineup of presenters and the latest compliance updates. But there was one thread running underneath everything, and it showed up in almost every session.

AI is already here. Most firms are still figuring out what to do with it.

The tools exist. The question now is whether you use them to automate the parts that don't matter, or to free up time for the parts that do. I've spent the last few weeks testing how Claude can actually help me streamline processes and remove the "not-so-fun stuff" and allow me to focus on what matters most: delivering the best service possible to my clients.

The key takeaway from the conference was that the firms that will win in the next two years are the ones who have embraced AI and leverage its capabilities to help clients solve for their problems and proactively plan and implement strategies.
