The Federal Budget's tax reforms are shifting - and it's worth knowing what's changed.

After months of lobbying, the Government has agreed to several amendments to the draft legislation. Our Tax Partner Tim explains what it means: the CGT discount will still apply to start-up investments and a wider band of small businesses, testamentary trusts are now excluded from the new trust tax rules, and SMSFs are set to lose the ability to borrow for residential property purchases.

Worth a read if any of this touches your investments, business, or super.

In May, our team took on the F* Cancer Challenge - committing to 31 minutes of movement every day for 31 days.

It became more than a fitness challenge. Staff backed each other, showed up consistently, and together we raised over $3,000 for Cancer Council's research, prevention, and support programs.

Cancer has touched most of our lives in some way. This was one small way to do something about it.

Thank you to everyone who moved, donated, or cheered us on. This one meant a lot.

If you own a holiday home and rent it out, the ATO's new rulings could affect what tax deductions you're able to claim.

The Federal Budget has introduced important changes for discretionary trust holders - and they’re worth understanding before 1 July 2028.

In this short video, our Tax Partner Tim explains what’s changing: from 1 July 2028, discretionary trusts will pay a minimum 30% tax rate on their taxable income. Beneficiaries will receive a non-refundable tax credit for that tax - but those on a lower marginal rate won’t get the excess back. Primary production income and existing testamentary trusts are excluded.

Worth a watch if a discretionary trust is part of your wealth or business structure.

Big changes to negative gearing were announced in this year’s Federal Budget - and property investors need to take note.

In this short video, our Tax Partner Tim explains what’s changing: negative gearing on existing residential properties purchased after 12 May 2026 will be removed from 1 July 2027, with a transitional period in place until then. New homes and apartments are excluded from the changes.

Worth a watch if investment property is part of your wealth strategy.

Big changes to capital gains tax are coming - and they’re some of the most significant reforms in over two decades.

Here, our Tax Partner Tim walks through what the 2026/27 Federal Budget means for investors and asset holders: the removal of the 50% CGT discount from 1 July 2027, a new minimum 30% tax rate on capital gains, and the end of pre-CGT asset exemptions for the period held after that date.

Worth a watch if you hold investment property, shares, or assets through a trust.

Good news - super was largely spared in this year’s Federal Budget.

Maz, our Financial Planning Partner, breaks down two key changes in this short video: an increase to how much you can contribute to super at a concessional tax rate, and an increase to how much you can move into the pension phase - where your earnings can ultimately be tax-free.

Worth a watch if super is part of your wealth plan.
