The Great Barrier Reef needs smarter urban water solutions — and funding is now live to make it happen.
The $24 million Great Barrier Reef Urban Technology and Innovation Fund is open, offering grants of up to $4 million for large-scale wastewater trials and up to $200,000 for commercialising promising new treatment technologies.
Backed by both Australian and Queensland Governments, this initiative targets innovators, local councils, water utilities, and researchers working on affordable ways to reduce nutrient and sediment pollution before it reaches the Reef.
Applications close 10am, 17 August 2026.
If you’re developing or delivering urban water tech in Reef catchments, this could be your opportunity.
