If you’re planning for retirement, there are three numbers worth knowing.

Each one changes the rules around your super and retirement income.

60. 65. 67.

Here’s what happens at each age — and why it can pay to start planning before you get there.

This information is general in nature and does not take into account your personal objectives, financial situation or needs. Consider obtaining professional financial advice appropriate to your circumstances.

Will your kids change your retirement plans?

My eldest daughter got her driver’s licence this week, and in a few months she’ll finish school.

It got me thinking — will our kids stay at home longer? Will we help them buy their first home? And should that form part of our own retirement planning?

What do you think?

Should you move everything to cash when you retire?

It can feel like the safest option. But with retirement potentially lasting 25–30 years or more, there’s another risk to consider: inflation slowly reducing your purchasing power.

In the final video of my Your Retirement Paycheck series, I look at the role of cash and growth investments, and why retirement planning is about finding the right balance.

If you’re approaching retirement and would like to understand what your own retirement paycheck could look like, send me a message using the button below and we can start the conversation.

Most people approaching retirement ask the same question:

"How much can I actually afford to spend?"

In this video, I walk through a practical example of a retired couple with $700,000 in super and show how they could generate $75,000 per year by combining:

✔️ A superannuation income stream
✔️ The Age Pension
✔️ Income from their savings

The numbers are just an example, but they highlight an important point…

Retirement planning isn't about chasing the biggest super balance. It's about creating an income that supports the lifestyle you want.

Watch the video and let me know:

If you were retiring today, what's the one question you'd want answered?

Most people spend 40 years learning how to build their super.

Very few spend any time learning how to live off it.

Retirement isn't just about reaching a certain super balance. It's about turning that balance into a reliable income that supports the lifestyle you've worked so hard to create.

In this video, I explain why retirement changes the financial question completely.

Should everyone include a lifetime income stream in their retirement plan?

No.

After covering the pros and cons and a real case study, this final video explains:

✅ Who may benefit
✅ Who may not
✅ Why every retirement plan should be tailored to your goals

There's no one-size-fits-all retirement strategy.

In Part 1, we explored the pros and cons of lifetime income streams.

Now it's time to look at a real retirement case study.

This couple had:
🏡 Their home
💰 $600,000 in super
🎯 A retirement income goal of $75,000 per year

Rather than investing all of their super the same way, we modelled an alternative strategy.

The results were interesting.

In this video, I explain:
✅ How the strategy affected their Age Pension
✅ Why it reduced reliance on investment markets
✅ Why retirement planning is about more than simply chasing investment returns

Every retirement is different, but it's a good reminder that how you structure your retirement income can be just as important as how much you've saved.

Have you ever reviewed how your retirement savings are invested and structured, not just how much you have?

I'd love to hear your thoughts below.

Would you ever trade some flexibility for the certainty of an income that lasts for life?

Lifetime annuities are one of the most misunderstood retirement strategies.

Some people immediately dismiss them because they don't like the idea of committing part of their super.

Others see them as a valuable way to reduce the risk of running out of money in retirement.

The reality? There are genuine pros and cons, and they're certainly not right for everyone.

In this first video of a three-part series, I explain:
✅ Why some retirees choose them
✅ The trade-offs to consider
✅ Why they can play an important role in the right retirement plan

Next time, I'll walk through a real retirement case study and show how a lifetime income strategy changed the outcome for a retired couple.

Would you value guaranteed income for life, or is flexibility more important to you?

I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments.

⚠️ Business owners, have you received one of these?

I recently received an official-looking letter requesting $449 to renew one of our companies.

At first glance, it looked legitimate. But a closer look revealed it wasn't from ASIC, and the fine print stated it was an independent third party and "not a bill".

ASIC has previously warned business owners about unsolicited renewal and review notices that can look very similar to official correspondence.

Before paying any company renewal or business registration notice:

✅ Check who sent it
✅ Confirm who your registered agent is
✅ Verify the actual fee payable
✅ Contact your accountant or adviser if you're unsure

I've also seen similar tactics used in the past involving small shareholdings, where investors were offered convenience but at prices below market value.

The takeaway? If something looks official, take a moment to verify it before paying.

Have you received one of these letters, or another misleading payment request? Let me know in the comments below.
