We have some exciting news to share and honestly, we are a little giddy about it.

Blu Bookkeepers is one of the sponsors of the Australian Women in Business Conference 2026, and this is our first ever event sponsorship.

It feels like such a milestone moment for us and we couldn't have picked a better event to be part of. 3 days on the Gold Coast, 5–7 November at the QT Hotel in Surfers Paradise, hosted by the incredible Angela Henderson.

This event brings together coaches, consultants and service-based business owners who are ready to grow, and that is exactly who we are here for.

If you're going to be there, come find us. We would love to connect in person and chat all things cash flow, numbers and getting your business finances actually working for you.

Tickets are still available. Link in the comments.

The numbers can look impressive on paper.

But if money constantly feels tight, something deeper is going on.

I've found that many business owners aren't struggling to make sales.

They're struggling to keep control of the cash they've already earned.

I've seen businesses doing $100k+ months where the owner still feels broke.

Staff get paid.
Suppliers get paid.
The ATO gets paid.

Then the owner looks at the bank account and asks:

"What's left for me?"

That's not how a healthy business should operate.

When all your money lands in one account, every decision feels harder than it needs to be.

Can I hire?
Can I afford this expense?
How much should I put aside for tax?
Can I actually pay myself this month?

Without a system, you're guessing.

The shift happens when you stop treating owner pay as whatever is left over and start treating it as a priority.

Because paying yourself isn't selfish.

It's one of the clearest signs your business is working.

If you're building a business but still feel like you're last on the payroll, follow for more practical cash flow and Profit First tips.

A budget is only useful if you actually use it.

Comparing your budget against your actual numbers each month helps you spot where expenses are creeping up, understand what is changing and make decisions before small issues become bigger profit problems.

Because being a Money First CEO is not about checking your bank balance and hoping for the best.

It is about managing your money, protecting what matters and making sure every dollar has a job before it is spent.

🎧 In the full episode, I break down a simple approach to small business budgeting that you can actually use, without overcomplicating it.

Apparently bookkeepers have been "cooking the books" for years... πŸ‘€πŸ²

Just not the way people think.

At Blu Bookkeepers, the only things we're cooking are cash flow forecasts, BAS deadlines, payroll reconciliations, and maybe the occasional EOFY survival recipe.

Because good bookkeeping isn't about hiding the numbers.

It's about understanding them.

The clearer your numbers, the better decisions you can make.

Now excuse me while I add a pinch of profit, a dash of cash flow, and a healthy serving of financial clarity. πŸ˜†

What's the funniest bookkeeping or accounting term you've heard?

I was chatting to someone recently who said, "I didn't even know you had a podcast."

So I figured it was probably time to officially re-introduce it.

The Money First CEO Podcast is my podcast for business owners who want to feel more confident with money, cash flow, profit and running a business.

The goal is simple.
One episode.
One takeaway.

Something practical you can apply to your business straight away.

No fluff.
No complicated financial jargon.

Just real conversations and lessons to help you become a better CEO of your business.

The response so far has been incredible.

I've had messages from listeners sharing their biggest takeaways, telling me they've made changes in their business, and saying they finally understand concepts that used to feel overwhelming.

If you haven't listened yet, I'd love for you to check it out.

And if you're already a listener, I'd love to know:

What would you like me to talk about next?

What money, business or cash flow question would you love answered on a future episode?

Drop it in the comments or send me a message.

Your question might become a future episode.

Your employee has booked their tax return appointment.

There's just one problem.

Their income might not be tax ready yet.

Before anyone rushes off to see their accountant, they should check their Income Statement in MyGov.

If it says "Tax Ready", they're good to go.

If it says "Not Tax Ready", their employer may still be finalising STP reporting.

Remember, employers have until 14 July to complete STP finalisation.

A quick check today could save a wasted appointment tomorrow.

Need help finalising your STP before the deadline? Send us a message.

Someone shared this Cody Sanchez quote recently and I had to pass it on.

"Do it. Document it. Delegate it."

I wish I'd had this in my early days when everything lived in my head. Would have saved me a lot of stress.

I never started Blu Bookkeepers to win awards.

I started it because I saw too many business owners working incredibly hard without understanding where their money was going, constantly feeling stressed about cash flow, tax, and whether there would be enough left at the end of the month.

Everything we've built has been about helping business owners create financial clarity, make better decisions, and build businesses that truly support their lives.

That's why I'm incredibly honoured to share that I've been nominated for the 2026 Women in Accounting Awards in the Leading with Value category and recognised as a Top 50 Women in Accounting Nominee.

If we've worked together, if you've listened to the podcast, attended a webinar, learned something from our content, or simply believe in the mission of empowering business owners through financial clarity, I would be so grateful for your support.

More clients are not always the answer to more profit.

Keeping the right clients for longer can be far more valuable than constantly chasing new ones.

When clients stay, trust you and refer others, your business grows without adding more pressure to your week.

This is the kind of profit growth that compounds.

Watch this highlight from the latest Money First CEO episode, then listen to the full episode to learn five ways to increase profit without working more hours. Link in bio.

This was me at 17 years old, working my first job at McDonald's.

Looking back, it may have been the most valuable business education I ever received.

A customer can walk into a McDonald's almost anywhere in the world and have a very similar experience.

That's not luck.

It's because they have systems for everything.
