From 1 July 2026, new “Payday Super” rules will come into effect. This means employers will be required to pay employees’ superannuation at the same time as wages are paid, rather than quarterly.

What this means for you:

Employees: Your super will be paid every payday, so your fund will reach you sooner and grow earlier.

Employers: Super contributions will need to be processed with each pay run (weekly, fortnightly or monthly).

The Super Guarantee rate will continue to apply (legislated to be 12% from 1 July 2025).

This change is designed to improve retirement outcomes and reduce late or unpaid super. We recommend businesses start reviewing payroll processes ahead of time to prepare.
