A new class of financial planner is being proposed. The new class of financial planner will have different requirements for "simpler" advice. I can tell you through over 20 years of education training and experience there is nothing simple helping someone with their future life. Government says it's too costly for the public to get objective in person help yet the government are the ones imposing additional costs on the 15000 licensed financial planners (predominantly small businesses) in the country.

Much of what I and others do though is just as much about building a relationship with our clients. The person you talk to, is the one who answers your email and is the one providing the advice, and the one who will see you at home, amongst everything else.

Feel free to call 0432 442 722 if you have questions.

Superannuation funds will get expanded powers to “advise members”, but the assistant treasurer has flagged they will face capital rules similar to those for banks.

The world is becoming less personal. Less in person help, less understanding of you and your needs, and more general solutions which can lead to worse outcomes. We only need to read and listen about all the scams going on which are causing lots of Australians to lose a lot of money. It's scary to be honest.

ACGFP is a boutique high touch business, that means sitting down belly to belly, in your home, around the kitchen table......maybe with cuppa in hand too 🫖 By having a working relationship with a licensed financial planner means you get to see a person who will understand you, your family, your goals, where you are at now and what you need to do to get to where you want to be.

If you wish to understand more about what's involved feel free to reach out.

Why do I need to see a financial planner for?

The need for financial advice is driven by a need, and in years gone by everyone sought the services of a financial planner to give them a product, this alone was meant to change everything.

Products alone do not help anyone. Sure they are important, but what changes someone's situation are behaviours (understanding where you are now, what you want in the future and what you need to do in order to get there).

The whole idea about planning is that there are no surprises, in good times and bad.

Using history as a guide, there will always be something to cause a sharemarket reaction (good and bad). Being emotional is natural when there is bad news in particular. That being said, in good times and bad, have a robust plan in place, catered to your own situation and stick to it. Markets are generally more positive than not over longer periods of time.

Some of the biggest moments in history (there could be more):

- 1910/1920: World War 1, Flu
- 1920/1930: Hyperinflation, stock market crash
- 1930/1940: Depression and mass unemployment
- 1940/1950: World War 2
- 1950/1960: Cold War, Korean War
- 1960/1970: Vietnam War
- 1970/1980: Oil Crisis, stagflation and recession
- 1980/1990: Iran/Iraq War, African famine, AIDS
- 1990/2000: Gulf War, Bulkans War, Rwanda
- 2000/2010: 9/11, Bali, Afghan War, Global Financial Crisis
- 2010/2020: Grexit, Brexit, President Trump, China/US Trade War
- 2020/Present: Covid 19, Crypto, Tariff War, Oil Crisis
