You may earn a good income, build super, have investments…and still not know if retirement is actually on track.

We see it all the time.

Full time professionals in their 50s & 60s who look entirely successful on paper — but still feel anxious.

They book holidays and spend half the trip worrying about whether they should really be there.

They have money. They just have no idea if it is enough.

Here is why.

Most people look at what they have.

Very few work out what they actually need.

Retirement planning starts with your life first, not money.

Before anything else, answer one question: Enough money for what?

Once you know what you want, the numbers become clear.

If that question is still unanswered, send me a message.

It costs nothing to find out where you actually stand financially, what financial future awaits, and what you need to do to secure your financial future.

One of the biggest retirement mistakes?

People working longer than they need to.

Many people think the biggest risk in retirement is running out of money.

We see it differently.

The biggest risk is working too long and missing the best years of your life.

When you’re in your 50s & 60s, time becomes the hidden asset.

You’re not getting any younger.

You only have a certain number of healthy, active years left to enjoy yourselves.

We speak to many people who are terrified of getting retirement wrong.

They do not want to end up old, tired, and unable to do the things they dreamed about.

Sometimes the biggest cost is not retiring too early.

It is worrying for years when you may already be okay financially.

“Once the mortgage is gone, we will be fine.”

It is one of the most common retirement assumptions, and it is understandable.

Owning your home outright can remove a major expense and create a strong foundation for retirement.

But debt-free does not automatically mean work-optional.

A home without a mortgage does not by itself answer how you may fund day-to-day living, travel, private health cover, maintenance, family support, one-off costs, or lifestyle changes over decades.

Paying off debt is an important milestone.

It is just not the finish line.

Stop focusing on a retirement date.

For decades, the financial industry and the government have trained you to focus on a specific retirement age — usually 60, 65, or 67.

But a date is just an arbitrary milestone.

It has absolutely nothing to do with your personal retirement intentions.

True freedom does not magically arrive on your 65th birthday.

It comes from understanding how much money you need for retirement, taking action to implement the right strategy, and keeping on track to get there.

You do not need a retirement date.

You need to know how much money you need for retirement and how to get there.

Are you trusting the next 30 years of your life & retirement to a DIY spreadsheet?

We see a lot of professionals in their 50s & 60s who try to manage their retirement transition with an Excel spreadsheet.

But here is the problem: a spreadsheet could project your future asset / superannuation position, but on its own it will not show how it connects to the life you want to live along with the income required to support that lifestyle.

A basic calculator will not stress-test a range of investment returns, allow for market falls, inflation, account for the psychological shift from accumulating wealth to drawing it down, or help you consider whether your work choices remain aligned with your goals.

You do not need another online calculator or a better excel formula.

You need to understand where you stand financially, where you're heading financially, and the steps you need to take to secure your financial future based on the life you want to live.

Your excel spreadsheet can’t do that.

But we can.

If you're a full-time professional in your 50s, your time is running out.

In your 30s, the cost of not planning your financial future can be rectified.

In your 50s, the cost of not planning your retirement is measured in the smaller number of healthy years you have remaining.

The longer you leave it, the less time you have to enjoy yourself.

Retirement planning starts with determining the life you want to live.

Then calculating how much money you need to support that lifestyle.

And taking action to implement the right strategy to achieve it.

The longer you wait, the less time you have.

Remember, your life is not a rehearsal.

Is $1.5 million enough for your retirement?

Or is it $1 million or $3 million?

Or do you already have enough and simply don't know it?

If you are a full-time professional in your 50s or 60s, you need to know how much money is enough for your retirement.

When you don't know how much you need, you're either going to work years longer than you actually need to - sacrificing your healthiest time - or retire before you are truly ready.

Stop guessing.

Find out.

And start planning.

One of the most common things I hear people say is:

"Maybe I'll just work one more year."

Sometimes that's the right decision.

But sometimes it isn't.

The problem is, many people aren't working longer because they want to.

They're working longer because they don't know if they can afford to stop.

That's a very different reason.

Think about when you want to actually retire.

The question is...

Do you actually need to keep working until then?

Or...

Could you retire sooner than you think?

You may decide working a little longer gives you the retirement lifestyle you really want.

Either way, it's far better to make that decision based on facts rather than uncertainty.

Because every extra year you spend working is a year you can't get back.

It's another year before you have more time with your partner.

Another year before you travel.

Another year before you spend more time with family and friends.

Another year waiting for the retirement you've spent decades working towards.

You don't have to guess.

Let's find out whether you're on track and what your options look like

“Will I have enough money for retirement?”

It's a though that can wake you up at 2am.

You see headlines about inflation, hear a friend mention a huge super balance, and suddenly your own position feels inadequate - regardless of what you have actually built.

But “enough” is not a number borrowed from somebody else’s lifestyle.

It depends on what you want, how you want to live, the lifestyle you want to enjoy and so forth.

The first step to retiring with confidence is first know how much money you actually need.

Because once you know, you can then accumulate it, mange it, protect it, and most importantly, ENJOY it before it's too late.

To find out how much money you may need, complete the 30 second questionnaire in the comments below.

“I can't stand my job… but I can’t afford to leave.”

You're probably not the only one saying that.

But are you sure you can't afford to leave? Or are you just guessing?

Some full-time professionals in their 50s & 60s feel locked into demanding corporate environments because they assume they need the salary.

They endure meetings and politics, trading their mental energy for a pay cheque they may not even need.

If you don’t know where you’re heading financially and what financial future awaits, you may keep yourself stuck in that job for a lot longer than necessary.

It’s worth determining how much money you need for retirement.
