Sparkes Accounting is closed today due to Staff Training. Bring on Day 1 of 2 days of tax schools. Hopefully plenty of great ideas how to improve the refunds situation. The office will reopen 8.30am tomorrow.

Again this tax season there will be a heavy focus on Rental properties. The ATO has been trialing their data matching program with information obtained from Real Estates with limited success but this will only be strengthened this tax season. So being 100% sure you come with receipts and also knowing what is a capital improvement versus repair even if undertaken by special strata levies.

Here is the first of the end of year tax.
The ATO is now chasing $76 Billion in debts. The ATO charges 11.17% interest, which from 1 July 2025 will no longer be deductible. The ATO is reluctant to approve payment plans and are now demanding more information than ever before.

Happy New Year.
We were officially back in the office yesterday and have spent the last 2 days catching up on Emails and tiding up pre Christmas work. And doing appointments.
As we are outside peak times for personal tax returns - we are doing before and after hours on Mondays and one Saturday a month. If need Karen will check and maybe an appointment outside of this can be arranged.
