You’re first in and last out. You’ve trimmed the costs, chased the invoices, said yes to the job you didn’t really want. And the bank balance looks about the same as it did this time last year.
Here’s what I see across the books of established businesses every week. The owners working the longest hours are almost never the ones making the most profit. More hours won’t fix a business that’s leaking margin. Pricing does. Cost base does. Cashflow timing, tax planning, knowing which jobs actually make money and which ones quietly cost you.
That’s fixable. Usually faster than owners expect, because the numbers are already sitting there, they’ve just never been read properly.
If you’ve got staff, real revenue, and a nagging feeling the profit should be better than it is, take the Profit Engine Scorecard. Ten minutes and you’ll see exactly where your business is losing money and what to do about it first.
