Severe Weather Warning
for DAMAGING WINDS
For people in parts of Metropolitan and Illawarra Forecast Districts.

SOUTHERLY BUSTER FOR SYDNEY, WOLLONGONG AND CENTRAL COAST

Weather Situation: A gusty southerly change in expected to move through the Illawarra, Sydney and Central Coast late this afternoon and during the evening after a hot day.
SOUTHERLY winds averaging 50 to 65km/h with possible gusts in excess of 90km/h are expected to push through parts of the Illawarra coast later this afternoon and extend northwards to impact exposed parts of the Sydney coastal fringe and the Central Coast this evening.
Southerly winds are forecast to decrease in the late evening, though remain fresh overnight.
Locations which may be affected include the Sydney coastal fringe, Wollongong, Woy Woy, The Entrance, Bulli, Port Kembla and Kiama.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees.
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.
* Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen power lines or objects that may be energised, such as fences.
* Report fallen power lines to either Ausgrid on 131 388, or Endeavour Energy on 131 003 or Essential Energy on 132 080, as shown on your power bill.
* For emergency help in floods and storms, ring your local SES Unit on 132 500.
The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 11:00 pm AEDT Thursday.
