Meet our local Wide Bay contact Jennifer Laing.

In March 2020, Jenn commenced her Bachelor of Accounting, majoring in Financial Planning with CQ University, completing this in June 2023 with a Distinction after commencing her professional year with Modern You.


“What I enjoy most about being in the profession is the variety of work involved in helping people. One day I’ll be doing lots of little tasks, making sure advice has been implemented correctly, writing ongoing service agreements, sending emails, making phone calls, and then another day I’ll be writing the entire advice document, while on another day I’ll spend the day observing and taking notes in client meetings. However, my favourite task has always been balancing an asset allocation to the client’s risk profile.

I’m a born and bred Queenslander, and I’ve called Bundaberg my home for the last 7 years. I love the variety of agriculture in the region, and how the landscape constantly changes according to the seasons. One day there’ll be a huge stand of sugar cane that is tall and thick, and the next day it will be harvested and there’s a gaping great hole where it was and then the process starts over with the cane shooting through the trash and growing up tall again. I also love the variety of foods available in the region, particularly our macadamias, gelato and strawberries. I also love that I’m within driving distance of the beach to ground myself.

I am excited be a part of the MYFP team because our values align. I believe in keeping my promises, acting with integrity, and treating everyone like a human being and with respect. I also believe in going the extra mile for causes I believe in, and I am passionate about helping people. I’m also not averse to being pushed in the deep end and seeing what lessons can be learned from the experience. We bring affordable holistic advice to the people who need it, not just those who can afford it, and we do it while making them feel special “ - Jennifer Laing, Financial Planning Associate.
