Martin & White - Accountants & Business Advisors A COMPLETE SOLUTION FOR YOUR FINANCIAL NEEDS

17/07/2026

It is with great sadness that we share the news that Wayne Wright has passed away after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Wayne personally for many years, from working a few doors up from him, to working together to support his SMSF clients, to recently taking over his clients after he made the decision to retire to focus on fighting this disease.

We know that for many of you, Wayne was more than just your accountant - he was someone you trusted and formed a friendship with over many years.

Our thoughts are with Wayne's family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time, and we join you in remembering Wayne with gratitude and respect for the care and dedication he showed to clients throughout his career.

Please join us in keeping Wayne's family and friends in your thoughts.

❤️ Rest in peace, Wayne.

Be ready: Payday Super starts from 1 July 2026

Payday Super is a massive change to Australia’s superannuation system that requires employers to pay their employees' super guarantee (SG) at the same time as their salary and wages, rather than quarterly.

Here are the key details you need to know about how it works:
• When it starts: The rules come into effect on 1 July 2026.
• The Deadline: Super contributions must be received by the employee's super fund within 7 business days of their payday (exceptions apply for first contributions for new employees).
• Calculating Super: Super will be calculated as 12% of an employee's "qualifying earnings" (a term that combines ordinary time earnings with salary sacrificed amounts and commissions paid) each pay cycle.
• Reporting: Both qualifying earnings and the super liability must be reported through Single Touch Payroll (STP).
• Penalties: Late or missed payments will incur a Super Guarantee Charge (SGC), which includes daily compounding interest and administrative penalties.

If you are using an accounting software package that already complies with Single Touch Payroll, then you should be able to set up super payments directly to ensure you are ready for this change on 1 July.

If you need assistance, please reach out to Martin & White Accountants before 1 July.

If you want to reduce your study loan balance before indexation applies, you’ll need to make a voluntary repayment by 26 May. This will allow enough time for your payment to be processed.

There are a few ways you can make a voluntary repayment - including BPAY and credit card.

Repayments cannot be claimed as a tax deduction.
