⌛ 30 Years Apart: Retiring in 1995 vs 2025 — What’s Really Changed?

If you retired in 1995, life looked very different.

Fuel was under a dollar a litre. The average home cost less than $200,000. Super balances were smaller, and life expectancy was shorter.

Fast forward to 2025 — prices have doubled, we’re living longer, and retirement looks very different from our parents’ generation.

In our latest blog, we compare the Australia of 1995 and 2025 — from the cost of a house or a pint of beer to how inflation and longevity are reshaping what retirement really means today.

👉 See how much the world has changed — and what that means for your future.

Most Australians don't realise how much a financial adviser can change their life—until they work with one.

We’re not just talking about investment returns or tax strategies (though those are important). We’re talking about something far more meaningful:

✅ Feeling in control
✅ Sleeping better at night
✅ Having the confidence to make big life decisions without second-guessing yourself

The latest research from Colonial First State's Empowered Australian Report 2025 confirms what we see every day:
👉 Australians who get financial advice are more confident, more resilient, and far less likely to be affected by money stress.

In fact, those without an adviser are nearly twice as likely to say their financial situation has impacted their mental health.
That’s a statistic that should make all of us stop and think.

Here are a few more findings that really stand out:

🔹 Advised Australians can typically cope for 10 months if they lose their income—compared to just 6–7 months for others
🔹 73% say they trust their adviser more than any other financial source
🔹 Most people don’t realise they can use their super to pay for financial advice—especially when it’s related to retirement planning

In today’s world—where living costs are rising, markets are unpredictable, and retirement feels more complex than ever—having the right advice isn’t a luxury.

💬 It’s a strategy for better living.
💬 It’s a way to take control.
💬 It’s peace of mind, backed by experience.

If you’re over 50 and starting to think about what comes next, or if you're already on the road to retirement, we’re here to help you make the most of it.

Because retirement isn’t the end. It’s the beginning of a whole new chapter.
