Yes, that's a spider web in my beautiful string of pearls.

🌿 BE A PLANT. 😂

Sometimes work gets busy.
Life gets busy.
Your brain gets busy.

And apparently… the plants are the first to know. 🤣

I absolutely love my plants. I have every intention of being that organised plant mum who waters, trims, repots and lovingly checks every leaf.

And then… business. Family. Life. A million things happening at once.

Suddenly I look over and think, Ohhhh… sorry guys. 😬🌱

But you know what I love about them?

Their resilience. Their patience.

They might look a little worse for wear.
They might need some attention.
They might have been slightly forgotten while everything else took priority…

But give them some water, a little sunshine, and some care, and they start growing again.

And I reckon a little business/life lesson is hiding in there.

You don't have to have everything perfectly maintained all the time.

Sometimes you just need to notice what you've been neglecting, give it a bit of attention and keep growing.

🌱 Be resilient.
🌱 Be patient.
🌱 Keep growing.

Basically… be a plant. 🤣

Anyone else have plants currently surviving on resilience alone? 😂🌿

🎬 A day in my life ... Business owner edition 💚

Some days are client meetings, Xero, emails, training clients on understanding their numbers, and getting through the never-ending to-do list.

Other parts of the day are school runs (when they don't walk or ride, goodbye winter!) , walking the dog, putting dinner in the slow cooker, homework, kids' sports, feeding the boys… and eventually closing the laptop and collapsing on the couch for movie night. 😂

And usually, it’s ALL OF THE ABOVE in one day.

Running Perth’s Art of Numbers has never just been about bookkeeping for me.

It’s about helping business owners feel more confident with their numbers, building a business and team I’m proud of, while still being Mum and making space for the life happening around it.

And lately, there’s been something else taking up a little bit of my workday too… 👀

I’ve been working behind the scenes on something I’ve wanted to create for a VERY long time.

Something designed to take what I’ve spent more than 20 years learning and turn it into practical, easy-to-understand education for business owners.

I’m not giving it all away just yet. 😉

But over the next few weeks, I’m going to start taking you behind the scenes.

Something new is coming to Perth’s Art of Numbers. 🌿

Learn the Numbers. Build Confidence. Love Your Business.

WHAT’S YOUR GUILTY PLEASURE? 💅

Mine? Apparently it’s doing my own nails. 😂

There’s something about switching off from work, sitting down with all the colours lined up and attempting to create something that hopefully resembles a salon manicure!

When you spend your days buried in numbers, BAS, payroll, reconciliations and helping business owners make sense of their finances, having something completely unrelated to work is SO important.

We all need that little thing that helps our brain switch off.

So tell me…

What’s your guilty pleasure or hobby outside of work?

Is it nails? Gardening? Gaming? Reading? Baking? A sneaky reality TV obsession? 👀

👇 I want to know yours!

What are you working so hard for?

As business owners, it's easy to get caught in the cycle of always chasing the next job, the next client or the next milestone.

Before we know it, weekends become catch-up days, holidays become workdays, and "I'll slow down later" becomes something we tell ourselves year after year.

But here's the thing...

Your business should support your life -not become your whole life.

The beach walks.
The coffee dates.
The family BBQs.
The quiet mornings.
The moments where you put your phone away and simply enjoy where you are.

Those moments matter just as much as the numbers.

Success isn't only measured by turnover or profit.

Sometimes it's measured by having the freedom to step away, breathe deeply and be fully present with the people who matter most.

This weekend, I hope you find a little time to do something that's just for you.

💚 What's one thing that helps you switch off and recharge?

I'd love to hear it in the comments.

EOFY doesn't have to be a mad rush.

Every year, I see business owners feeling overwhelmed because they're trying to pull everything together at the last minute.

The good news?

A little preparation now can save you hours of stress later.

Before EOFY rolls around, ask yourself:

✔️ Are your bank accounts up to date and reconciled?
✔️ Have you taken the time to review your profit, cash flow and overall business performance?
✔️ Are your receipts, invoices and important records organised and easy to find?

These aren't just bookkeeping tasks.

They're opportunities to understand your business, identify what's working, and head into the new financial year with confidence.

Remember, EOFY isn't just about ticking boxes for your accountant.

It's your chance to pause, reflect and make informed decisions for the year ahead.

💚 Which of these three jobs do you usually leave until the last minute? Be honest—I promise you're not the only one.

It was never just about the bookkeeping.

One of the things I hear most often from new clients is:

"We're busy... but we have no idea where the money is going."

And honestly, that's more common than you might think.

When you're running a business, it's easy to get caught up in the day-to-day. Before long, you're making decisions based on your bank balance instead of understanding what your numbers are actually telling you.

That's where the real change happens.

It's not just about reconciling accounts or lodging a BAS.

It's about helping business owners understand their numbers, regain confidence and finally feel back in control of their business.

There's nothing better than seeing the relief on a client's face when they say:

"I finally get it."

That's why I do what I do.

💚 Have you ever had that moment where something in your business finally clicked? I'd love to hear about it in the comments.

Most people see the finished business.

The meetings.
The emails.
The deadlines.
The phone calls.

What they don't see are the quiet moments before the day begins.

For me, it's a coffee, a few minutes of peace, and a chance to reset before helping business owners navigate another busy day.

Running a business isn't just about numbers.

It's about juggling family, staff, clients, unexpected challenges and trying to remember to look after yourself somewhere in between.

I've learnt that taking ten quiet minutes in the morning isn't wasted time....it's often the reason I can show up as the calm, supportive person my clients need.

Apparently, if you also hummmmmmmm for 30 seconds it regulates your nervous system. Must be true, I read it on Instagram.

Because when we're grounded, we make better decisions.

For ourselves.
For our families.
And for our businesses.

What's one thing you never feel guilty about making time for?
For me, it's this.

A weekend away at the beach.☀️🌊📖

A comfy beach chair.

A good romance book that I can't put down.

The sound of the waves.

The warmth of the sun.

And yes... a glass of Chardonnay never hurts. 🍷

Running a business can be all-consuming. There will always be one more email to answer, one more job to finish, one more thing on tomorrow's to-do list.

But I've learnt something over the 20 years...

Taking time to recharge isn't time wasted.

It's what gives me the energy, clarity and perspective to show up as the best version of myself...for my family, my clients and my business.

The work will still be there on Monday.

These moments are the ones that refill your cup.

So here's my question for you...

What's one thing you never feel guilty about making time for?

I'd love to hear what helps you switch off. 💚
