"How much life insurance do I need?"

Perhaps the most common question we hear from our clients. Because every family is unique, a generic answer does not exist.

At Abbotts Personal Insurance, we clarify the calculation by filtering every review through a clear, four-pillar philosophy. We look at your debt, lifestyle, children's education, and funeral costs before offsetting them against your existing provisions.

Scott Reid outlines how to use this four-pillar framework to audit your existing financial provisions, identifying where your family is fully protected and where potential coverage gaps remain.

When you look at those four pillars, are you completely certain which one is currently your biggest financial blind spot?

You may notice a small adjustment to our administrative processes the next time you engage our firm for a new corporate structure, trust setup, or business transaction.

Under the national anti-money-laundering regulations officially classified as the AML/CTF Tranche 2 reforms, all Australian professional firms must now collect more detailed identity verification than before. This is a standard nationwide legal requirement to maintain sector security.

At Abbotts, we integrated these compliance frameworks well ahead of the national deadline to safeguard your assets without disrupting your project timeline. Meeting these bank-level security benchmarks protects your complex portfolios from unauthorised transactions.

Routine services, including annual tax returns or the basic drafting of a will, remain entirely unaffected. For cross-professional transactions like property settlements, we can reuse identity documentation previously verified by your other representatives to eliminate duplicate paperwork.
If you have questions about how these national rules affect your upcoming engagement with us, please contact your Abbotts team.

"How will the new 2028 trust tax rules affect my family's estate plan?"

While the headlines focus on the upcoming 30% minimum tax on discretionary family trusts, a significant planning opportunity has gone largely unnoticed. The Federal Government has explicitly exempted testamentary trusts from these new rules.

A testamentary trust is now a comparatively more attractive option for succession planning in Western Australia, particularly for wealth intended for the next generation.

The government has changed the rules for one type of trust structure, making it an ideal time to ensure your estate plan uses the right vehicle. Reviewing your will now, ahead of the July 2028 deadline, allows for careful, proactive wealth preservation.

Scroll through below to read our full analysis of the changes or book a conversation regarding a testamentary trust Perth structure with our estate planning team.

If you own a commercial building or an expensive vehicle, you ensure the entire asset is covered.

Yet, many professionals leave their most valuable financial asset unprotected without realising it. That asset is their remaining lifetime earning potential.

Default cover inside superannuation often covers only a small fraction of your actual earnings. This shortfall leaves your family vulnerable. It secures a fraction of your revenue while leaving your main wealth generator exposed.

Scott Reid addresses the common blind spots in personal insurance policies to help you protect your remaining lifetime earning potential.
Does your current policy meet your family’s actual needs? Listen and find out. 👉

To wrap up one of our busiest times of the year, the team headed down to Prison Island for our EOFY celebration!

The competitive streaks definitely came out. We split into different coloured teams to battle for points across the island, while also trying to take out the prize for the most creative outfit.

A big congratulations to the purple team for topping the final leaderboard. Special mentions also go to the blue team for securing best dressed, after the yellow team abandoned their costumes halfway through the challenges and lost on a technicality…

What a fantastic way to step away from the desks to celebrate a massive financial year together!

What does a 35-year partnership look like?
For long-term client Gia, it isn't about transactional, end-of-financial-year check-ins. It is about a lifetime of steady, reliable financial guidance that adapts as life and business move forward.

We recently sat down with Gia to look back on her 35-year journey with the Abbotts Group team. In her own words, the value of true financial mentorship comes down to a few simple things: "It’s always been very, very good financial advice. We have grown older together, wiser together, and richer together. With no problems from the tax department."

At Abbotts, our ultimate goal is to provide our clients with absolute clarity and peace of mind. True stability isn't built on short-term fixes; it's earned through decades of mutual trust, structured strategy, and proactive support.

Thank you, Gia, for walking this journey with us for more than three decades. We look forward to backing your success for many more years to come.
