If you have an HSBC home loan, you need to read this.
HSBC has sold its home loan book to Pepper Money. That means your loan is no longer with HSBC. It is now being serviced and underwritten by Pepper Money, effective before mid next year.
Your interest rate and fees stay the same for now. But here is the issue.
Pepper Money is not a first tier lender. That matters when it comes to accessing equity, future investment lending, flexible policies and getting the best rates down the track. It is a very different world to what HSBC customers have been used to.
Here is the opportunity though.
Right now, major banks are actively competing to pick up HSBC customers before the transfer happens. Some are offering to match your current HSBC rate and move your loan across to their books. Same interest rate. But with access to proper internet banking, branch networks, better lending policies and all the benefits of being with a major lender.
This is genuinely rare. It does not happen often that you can move to a better lender on the same rate you are already on.
The window to get this sorted is the next six to twelve months. After that the transfer happens and the opportunity closes.
If you have an HSBC loan and you are not sure what this means for you, reach out to the Madd team now. We will walk you through the whole process, the fees involved, how to get out and make sure you end up in the right place.
