1. Waiting until they’re “ready”
So many people think they need everything perfect before they even speak to a broker…
✔️ perfect savings
✔️ perfect income
✔️ zero debt
Truth is — most first home buyers aren’t “perfect.”
The earlier you get advice, the sooner you know what’s actually possible.
2. Not understanding where your money is going
You can’t build a deposit if your money is leaking every week.
I often see:
– no clear budget
– inconsistent saving habits
– relying on “leftover” money
Banks look for consistency — not just how much you earn, but how you manage it.
3. Assuming they can’t afford it
This one holds people back the most.
There are:
✔️ low deposit options
✔️ government schemes
✔️ strategies most people don’t even know exist
What feels “out of reach” might actually be closer than you think.
If you want to buy your first home this is your sign to do something about it.
