NOT MY PROBLEM
I didn't buy this T-shirt.
I simply stopped and took a photo because the message made me laugh.
Then it made me think...
How many financial planning business owners treat preparing their business for sale exactly the same way.
"I'm not planning to sell for a number of years"
Not my problem.
"I'll document the systems later."
Not my problem.
"The CRM can wait."
Not my problem.
"We'll get the business ready when we're closer."
Not my problem.
Until life has other plans.
A health scare.
Burnout.
A change in family circumstances.
Or an unexpected call from someone wanting to buy your business.
The reality is that you don't always get to choose when the opportunity arrives.
But you do get to choose whether your business is worth fighting over when it does.
At Back Office Hero, we believe enterprise value isn't something you create when you decide to sell.
It's something you build every day.
Every documented process.
Every clean client record.
Every system that reduces reliance on the owner.
Every improvement that makes the business easier to understand, easier to operate, and easier to transfer.
Those are the things that make buyers confident.
And confidence is what drives value.
If the right buyer walked through your doors tomorrow...
Would they see a business worth competing for...
Or a business they'd expect you to discount?
The next few years won't determine whether your business sells.
They'll determine how enthusiastically someone wants to buy it.
Most enterprise value isn't created during the sale process. It's created in the two to four years beforehand.
If you're thinking about an exit in the next few years and want to maximise the value of your business before buyers start putting a price on it, send me a DM.
I'd be happy to share where I believe the biggest opportunities usually lie.
