There’s nothing quite like good food to bring the team together!

We were recently treated to an absolutely delicious lunch courtesy of James, a long-standing Maher Group client and the person who also keeps our office looking its best.

James has been part of our journey for many years, looking after us back when we were a compact team of seven and continuing to be a familiar face around the office as we’ve grown to a team of more than 20.

He went well beyond keeping the office looking good, treating the whole team to an incredible spread and giving us the perfect excuse to step away from our desks and enjoy lunch together.

Safe to say, the food was a very big hit and there weren’t too many leftovers!

A huge thank you to James for spoiling us.

Great food, great company and a lovely reminder that some of the best business relationships are simply built on people supporting people.

Big changes to capital gains tax are coming.

From 1 July 2027, the 50% CGT discount is being replaced with an inflation-adjusted cost base indexation discount. Capital gains will also be taxed at a minimum rate of 30%.

Translation: The way investment gains are taxed is about to look very different, particularly where an asset’s value has grown significantly faster than inflation.

It's worth reviewing your position well before 1 July 2027, as decisions made before then could have different tax outcomes than those made afterwards.
