While You Were Here Superannuation Refund…What’s That??? Most backpackers who visit Australia for a year or two get jobs on a Pay As You Go basis.

Save money while travelling Australia, get help finding jobs, filing tax returns and receive up to $3000 when you leave Australia from your Superannuation refund. Example, bar work, cafes, farm work, etc. This means the employer legally has to give you pay slips and withhold tax and Superannuation which are detailed on the pay slip. heir annual tax return which often creates a cash rebate but far fewer backpackers apply for their “Superannuation Refund” which can only be claimed after leaving Australia and after the backpacker visa has expired. In fact most ex-backpackers don’t even know that their employer was stashing cash savings for them!! The employer legally had to pay Superannuation into an account similar to a savings account on your behalf at the rate of 9.5% of your earnings.
