Don't fall for the July Tax Trap! 🛑✋

It is officially July 2026, which means Tax Time is open. But if you jump onto your MyGov account today and press submit, you are highly likely to delay your refund.

Banks, employers, and private health funds have until late July to upload your data. If you lodge today with missing details, the ATO will flag your return for an audit or amendment, dragging out your processing time for weeks.

Let the systems update first. Use this month to track down physical receipts instead!

Work smarter, not harder!

An extra $268 per year is coming your way this financial year—and you don’t have to lift a finger. 💸👇

As of July 1, 2026, the lowest marginal tax bracket has officially dropped from 16% down to 15% (for income between $18,201 and $45,000).

If you earn over $45,000, this change means less tax withheld and more cash landing directly in your bank account each pay cycle. 🥳

The fine print:
✔️ Employees: Your employer's payroll system should automatically adjust your tax withholding charts starting today. Keep an eye on your next payslip to verify the change!
✔️ Employers: Ensure your payroll software is updated to the latest ATO tax tables to avoid under-withholding penalties.

The countdown is officially over. 🚨

Payday Super officially went live from 1 July 2026. If you haven't started adjusting your business cash flow strategy yet, now is the time to get your ducks in a row to handle the upcoming cash flow crunch.

Under the new rules, super must be paid every payday, with employees' super funds required to receive the payment within 7 days of wages being paid.

Because clearing houses and super funds take time to process transactions, you'll realistically need to initiate super payments within 2–3 days of paying wages to ensure the cash arrives on time.

A 20-day window will apply for onboarding new employees, employees switching super funds, and out of cycle payments such super linked to performance bonuses.

If you're unsure what these changes mean for your business, contact us today. We'll help you get your payroll and cash flow processes ready before the deadline.

Has your business outgrown its PAYG withholding cycle?

From 1 July 2026, the ATO may have automatically moved your business to a more frequent PAYG withholding payment cycle based on your annual withholding.

📅 Small withholders, those with less than $25,000 per year in PAYGW, only need to pay quarterly.

⚡ Medium withholders, those with more than $25,000 per year in PAYGW will need to pay monthly instead of quarterly.

If you're unsure whether your obligations have changed or your payroll software is set up correctly, we can help.

As registered Tax and BAS Agents, we'll review your withholding status, check your payroll setup, and help keep your business compliant.

The final countdown is on! ⏳

Before the end of the financial year, run through this quick-fire checklist to ensure you aren't leaving money on the table—or paying more tax than you should:

📉 Bad Debts: Write off any unrecoverable invoices in your accounting software (like Xero) right now. Don't pay tax on income you are never going to receive.

📦 Inventory: Plan your physical stocktake for June 30. If your inventory has dropped in value, is damaged, or is obsolete, write it down to claim the deduction.

🎁 Donations: Thinking of supporting a cause? Any donations made to a Registered Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) before tomorrow night can be claimed on this year's return.

📸 Receipts: Last call! Snap photos of any final receipts floating around your car, wallet, or inbox and upload them to your accounting portal before they fade.

Deep breaths! Running through these steps will put your business in the absolute best financial position possible for tax time. 💼✨

⏳ Trustees: The ATO Has Upgraded. Is Your June 30 Strategy Ready? 🏢

If you operate through a discretionary (Family) trust, the rules for Tax Time 2026 just got a major tech upgrade. Here is what you need to know:

🔴 The Hard Deadline: Trustees must execute and sign their Trust Distribution Resolutions on or before 30 June. Miss this midnight cutoff, and unallocated trust profits can be slammed with the highest marginal tax rate of 47%!

⚡ The ATO Tech Upgrade: Trust distribution data will now automatically pre-fill into individual beneficiary tax returns once the trust return is lodged. This cuts down on errors, but it means the ATO's eyes on your transparency are sharper than ever.

Your Immediate Action Plan:
1. Reconcile your books immediately.
2. Ensure all beneficiaries have provided their TFNs.
3. Lock in your distribution strategy before the clock runs out.

🚀 Don't leave your trust distribution to chance.

Our team is currently finalizing compliant strategies to legally protect your wealth. Contact us today to secure your session before June 30! 📉💼
