We'd recommend giving us a call if you're not sure what you can and can't claim.

😇 Sure, you can claim you’re the best worker in your team. But you can’t claim the food and alcohol you buy at the office end of year party.

Food and drinks at work functions are considered private in nature. They’re not deductible.

Tip: there are different rules if you’re an employer providing food and drinks. In this case, you’ll need to check if FBT applies.

𝗔𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 – 𝗗𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘁𝘆 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗹𝗮𝘄𝘀?

Under reforms introduced in 2012, directors can now become automatically personally liable if PAYG or superannuation amounts remain unreported and unpaid for three months after they’re due.

What’s changed?
✅ The regime now covers Super Guarantee debts – and since 2020, GST, LCT and WET too✅ You cannot avoid liability by putting your company into liquidation or voluntary administration✅ These laws are retrospective, meaning the 𝗔𝗧𝗢 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝘀𝘂𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗯𝘁𝘀 𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗮𝘀 𝗳𝗮𝗿 𝗮𝘀 𝟮𝟬𝟬𝟵✅ Even if the company eventually pays the debt, you may still have to pay the penalty
