We are getting plenty of enquiries about SRDP - here's a key Q&A to help.

"Who is eligible for SRDP?"

"To be considered for SRDP, a veteran generally needs at least 50 permanent impairment points, must be receiving or entitled to receive incapacity payments, and must be unable to undertake more than ten hours of suitable paid employment each week, with rehabilitation unlikely to improve work capacity above that level."

Lest We Forget. 🌺

At NSF we are proud to pause and honour the courage, service and sacrifice of the Australian and New Zealand servicemen and women — past and present.

As a veteran-owned business, ANZAC Day holds a deep meaning for our team at National Service Financial. We’ve walked in those boots. We know the mateship, the hardship, and the quiet strength of those who serve.

To every ADF member, veteran, and family who has given so much for our country — thank you. We remember those who never came home, and we stand beside those still carrying the weight of their service.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.
Lest We Forget. 🇦🇺🇳🇿

Can you get a Class A pension and DVA incapacity at the same time?

Yes – in most cases you can receive both, but they interact.
Your Class A invalidity pension (from CSC – MSBS/ADF Cover) counts as income, and DVA reduces your incapacity payment by that pension amount. So it’s not a full “double dip”, but you can still be paid from both streams at once.

Where you usually can’t stack payments is between different DVA benefits (for example, SRDP vs incapacity) – in those cases you’ll often have to choose which one you want paid.

Always get personalised advice, because the exact outcome depends on your scheme (MRCA vs DRCA vs VEA), your fund, and how much you’re getting from super.

Here’s a tight, relevant hashtag set you can drop straight under that post:

An average of a 20% drop in income post service is a startling fact !! - Make the most of your time in service.

Ex-serving ADF members generally earn MORE than the broader Australian population: 76% of ex-serving males and 60% of females earn $800+/week vs. 52%/34% of general population

However, financial stress is driven by lifestyle factors, not just income: the military lifestyle creates unique financial pressures that persist even at higher income levels

59% of veteran families would still recommend an ADF career despite these challenges, showing resilience and pride in service

The data shows that financial stress in ADF families is more about the unique demands of military life (relocations, partner career disruption, health challenges, transition income drops) than about absolute income levels—even families earning 6 figures face significant financial wellbeing challenges.
