About SMP Chartered Accountants
SMP Chartered Accountants is a small, enthusiastic Chartered Accounting practice based in Victor Harbor, South Australia with a strong client base. We service a range of business and individual clients and are focused on developing strong, lasting relationships through transparency, honesty and integrity. We specialise in business tax, Xero bookkeeping, individuals tax returns and SMSFs.

About the Role
We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Tax Accountant to join our small, dedicated team, with flexible working arrangements on offer.
The Senior Tax Accountant will be responsible for all tax deliverables including tax compliance, tax preparation, financial statements and other ad hoc accounting duties. You will work closely with the team and will be expected to be competent in completing workpapers and reconciling all aspects of a balance sheet.

Role Responsibilities
- Managing and liaising with clients
- Working within the team to build and maintain relationships with a diverse portfolio of clients
- Preparing financial statements and tax returns for small to medium-sized businesses, including reconciliation of balance sheets.
- Preparing and lodging Business Activity Statements (BAS)
- Assisting the bookkeeping team in delivering client services, including resolving queries and working predominately with Xero
- Performing additional ad hoc tasks as needed

We're Looking for Someone With:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Australian tax and business services
- Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage your workload independently and be proactive
- A willing, friendly and enthusiastic team member mentality
- Direct client interaction experience is desirable
- An attitude of care and service for people generally
- Experience and high-level competence with business services, accounting, tax, SMSF's, companies, trusts, partnerships and reasonably complex groups
- Excellent knowledge of Australian Taxation Legislation
- Proficiency with Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, Reckon, Cashflow Manager and the Microsoft Office suite
- Experience with Xero Tax and Practice Manager
- Permanent residency of Australia

We specialise in business tax, Xero bookkeeping, individuals tax returns and SMSFs.

About the Role:
We are looking for a highly motivated Bookkeeper to join our small, dedicated team, with flexible working arrangements on offer. This is a part-time role, starting with three days per week with a possibility to increase to full time.
The role is ideal for someone who is organized, reliable and enjoys working collaboratively in a team. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of financial processes, and the ability to manage various bookkeeping tasks simultaneously.

Role Responsibilities:
• Managing and liaising with clients
• End to end bookkeeping including accounts receivable, payable, and reconciliation.
• Maintain accurate financial records.
• Prepare end of month reconciliations.
• Prepare and lodge IAS and BAS for clients.
• Manage client payroll and super guarantee contributions, ensuring compliance.
• Handle inbound client calls and provide exceptional customer service.
• Assist clients with software implementation and provide ongoing support.
• Work independently while contributing to a collaborative team.
• Performing additional ad hoc tasks as needed

We're Looking for Someone With:
• Proven experience as a bookkeeper, certificates preferable but not essential
• Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and procedures
• Proficiency with all accounting software including Xero, MYOB, quickbooks and Reckon.
• A high level of experience with Microsoft office products, including word, excel and outlook.
• The ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
• Exceptional organizational and administrative skills.
• Great oral and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Permanent resident of Australia
