The truth on taxation. Ever since my career as a financial adviser started, I have listened to the rhetoric that the wealthy don't pay their fair share of tax. This always puzzled me, given our tax rates are "progressive", ie the more you earn, the higher rate of tax you pay.
To set the record straight, the following chart shows tax paid as a proportion of income earned. As you can see, the reality is a long way from the rhetoric.
