Need to lodge a tax return, or not sure if you need to at all?

There are a few ways to handle it, depending on your situation. You might lodge yourself, get help with a simple return, sort out a deceased estate return, or let us know you don’t need to lodge at all.

If you receive franking credits, you may still be able to claim a refund even without lodging a return.

Comment LODGE if you want help working out your next step.

Friday afternoon and the numbers still don’t feel clear? That’s usually the sign to check them before September gets busy.

A quick spring money reset only needs five numbers: cash in the bank, money owed to you, money you owe, tax set aside, and what’s left after bills.

When you know those five, decisions get easier. Less guessing. Less scrambling.

Save this for your next money check-in.

A fixed-fee setup changes more than your invoice. It changes how you plan.

When you know what your core support costs each month, cash flow gets easier to map. Fewer surprises. Clearer decisions. Less scrambling when bills land at the same time.

That kind of predictability helps you plan around the real numbers, not guesses.

Comment FIXED if you want a simpler way to think about your monthly expenses.

Parents in Australia often miss this one because it sounds simple until you see the tax rules.

Money a child earns from a job is taxed like adult income. But unearned income, like bank interest or shares bought for them, can be hit much harder.

Here’s the basic split:
• up to $416 tax-free
• $417 to $1,307 taxed at 66%
• above $1,307 taxed at 45%

If your child has savings or investments, it’s worth checking how the income is actually being earned.

Most businesses don’t have a profit problem. They have a cash timing problem.

Money gets tied up in GST, unpaid invoices, loan repayments, and quiet spending that never looks big on its own.

The fix starts with a simple monthly cash audit. Look at what’s due, what’s still outstanding, and what’s leaving the bank before you assume the numbers are fine.

Comment CASH and we’ll share the first place to check.

TPAR is one of those lodgments that’s easy to forget until the deadline is suddenly here.

If your business paid contractors during the previous financial year, the report covers 1 July to 30 June and is due by 28 August each year.

The good news is it’s all done online through the ATO, and if you no longer need to report, you can submit a non-lodgment advice instead.

Strong businesses can still feel tight on money.

Usually, it’s not one big problem. It’s a few cash blind spots adding up quietly.

Profit on paper. Cash still missing when bills hit. That gap is where a lot of owners get caught out.

If money feels tighter than it should, review your cash flow.

A tax bill can feel random until you look at what changed behind the scenes.

For a lot of business owners, the surprise comes from timing, instalments, or a payment plan that needs a closer look.

If you’re struggling to pay in full, a payment plan may help you spread the balance over smaller instalments for the shortest possible period. The key is to keep up with your ongoing tax obligations so the plan doesn’t fall over.

BAS, payroll, and super can feel chaotic when the basics are scattered.

A few simple habits make it easier to manage. Keep receipts in one place, check your numbers before BAS is due, and stay on top of payroll details before they turn into a last-minute scramble.

When the system is consistent, the stress drops fast.

Your books can look fine and still make reporting day feel awful.

That usually means the numbers are there, but they are not working together. Cash flow, BAS, tax, and payroll all rely on clean, current records behind the scenes.

When the system is behind, you end up guessing instead of leading.

If reporting time feels heavier than it should, tighten the systems behind the numbers.
