Hard core explorer was Ludwig Leichhardt. His journeys opened up Queensland and Northern Terroritory, an area larger than Western Europe!

A man who filled the blank spaces of a continent was eventually swallowed by them. Ludwig Leichhardt conquered the Australian wilderness once only to vanish without a trace.

He arrived in Sydney in 1842 with an obsession for the unmapped interior. The vast scrub and desert of the north remained a mystery to the colonial world.

His first major expedition in 1844 covered 3000 miles of brutal terrain from Queensland to Port Essington. He relied on cattle and horses while navigating through heat and hunger.

This journey turned a scientist into a national hero and provided the first detailed maps of the region. Success gave him the confidence to attempt a full crossing of the continent.

In 1848 he set out again with 7 men and dozens of animals into the dead heart of Australia. No member of the party was ever seen again despite numerous search efforts.

The maps he left behind built an empire but the land itself claimed the mapmaker. Even today the silence of the outback keeps the secret of his final resting place.

Meta's cloud ambitions has triggered an AI hardware sell-off. Meta is building a cloud infrastructure business, dubbed Meta Compute, to sell surplus AI computing capacity to outside customers, competing directly with AWS, Azure and Google Cloud.

One potential plan includes selling access to various AI models that are hosted on Meta’s existing AI infrastructure, an approach similar to AWS’ Bedrock offering.

Analysts have confirmed that households have a larger interest burden even when compared to the interest rate peak of 1989 when mortgage rates were 17.5%, a reflection of much larger debt levels today relative to income.

Who had it tougher on housing? These stats may put the generational debate to bed.
