After Tuesday’s turnover of BDT 1,651.29 crore, today’s volume declined by 8.20% to BDT 1,515.91 crore, indicating a moderate slowdown in trading activity while overall participation remained elevated.
The benchmark DSEX Index gained 15.03 points to close at 5,926.27 from 5,911.24, extending the market’s rally, although at a more measured pace than the previous session.
The Relative Strength Index (RSI) rose to 79.25 from 78.48, moving even deeper into the overbought zone. This increase indicates that bullish momentum remains exceptionally strong, with buyers continuing to support the market despite signs of slowing participation. The move from 78.48 to 79.25 suggests that the uptrend is still intact and that momentum has not yet meaningfully weakened. However, with the RSI approaching 80, the market is becoming increasingly stretched, raising the probability of short-term profit-taking, consolidation, or heightened volatility after the extended rally.
Market breadth turned negative, with 131 issues advancing, 218 declining, and 51 remaining unchanged, indicating that the index's gain was driven by a relatively small group of influential stocks rather than broad-based buying.
