Two years ago, PTSD brought me to my knees.
There was a time I looked in the mirror and didn't recognize the man staring back at me. I had climbed to 254 pounds, but the weight I carried wasn't measured on a scale. It was the weight of trauma, grief, hopelessness, and darkness. There were days I truly believed I had lost myself.
Today, I'm 220 pounds. (Thanks, F45 Training LaSalle )
The number is meaningful, but it isn't what I'm most proud of.
What matters most is that I can finally see the light again.
Not because the road has been easy, but because I refused to stop walking. One step. One workout. One conversation. One therapy session. One act of faith at a time. Healing isn't linear, but every step forward is still progress.
None of this would have been possible without the incredible people who refused to let me fight alone.
To my wife, my family, my friends, Dr. Wuerch, my psychologist and every person who stood beside me when I couldn't stand on my own... thank you. You picked me up when I fell. You believed in me when I struggled to believe in myself. You reminded me that even in our darkest moments, hope still exists, and I'm on the mend.
You know who you are.
From the bottom of my heart...
Thank you. I appreciate you more than words can ever express.
This journey has taught me something I'll never forget:
Adversity built me. Growth calls me forward.
To those still suffering, it's okay not to be okay!! And, I'm here if you need me or my roadmap out of the darkness.
I Can. I Must. I Will. ❤️
