We are looking for Junior Bookkeeper and Administrative Assistant (interns) to learn new skills and get trained in our organization. This is an experience oriented unpaid position. If candidate performs well these positions will be converted into full time paid positions after Co-op completion.
We are looking for someone who can handle both bookkeeping and general office administration tasks. Responsibilities include recording financial transactions, managing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling accounts, and preparing financial reports, alongside administrative duties like managing correspondence, data entry, and office organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Bookkeeping:
Recording Financial Transactions: Accurately entering daily transactions into accounting software.
Accounts Payable/Receivable: Managing invoices, payments, and collections.
Reconciliations: Reconciling bank statements and other accounts.
Financial Reporting: Assisting in the preparation of financial statements and reports.
Payroll Processing: May involve processing payroll, including calculating wages and deductions.
Maintaining Financial Records: Ensuring accurate and organized financial records.
Administrative:
General Office Tasks: Answering phones, managing correspondence, and greeting visitors.
Data Entry: Entering data into spreadsheets and databases.
Filing and Record Keeping: Organizing and maintaining physical and digital files.
Office Supplies: Managing and ordering office supplies.
Scheduling: Scheduling appointments and managing calendars.
Communication: Communicating with clients, vendors, and other staff.
Assisting Senior Staff: Providing support to senior bookkeepers, accountants, or other administrative staff.
Adhering to Policies and Procedures: Following company guidelines and procedures.
Compliance: Assisting with compliance and regulatory reporting.
Skills & Qualifications:
Strong Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and accounting software.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous in recording and managing financial data.
Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
Communication Skills: Clear and effective written and verbal communication.
Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze financial data and identify discrepancies.
Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to resolve issues related to bookkeeping and administration.
Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others.
Experience: Previous experience in bookkeeping and/or administrative roles is often preferred.
Understanding of Accounting Principles: Knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices.
