Taking a look at these two pictures, obviously taken on the same day, you will see that perspective of where I faced made a lot of difference in the outcome.

The other reason why I took the pic is because I get confused about the weather a lot, I am wearing sunglasses, the sun is blazing hot, it is cold at the same time and I have a winter jacket on. Such confusion and contradiction.

It is the same vibe that people get when it comes to an important aspect of their financial planning which is whether to save or to invest. It seems like the same thing but they are two different ball parks.

I will walk you through a few highlights of what are the best recommendations for each.

1. Accessibility- For savings, it should be readily accessible and liquid but for your investments you need to have a mindset to leave it to grow even when there is a downturn of events in the market just like now.

2. Inflation- The essence of savings is also to beat inflation as much as possible, while with investments you are thinking of returns on investment over a long range of time.

3. Risks- With savings you should not be interested in risk in any form of risk while with your investments risk is a feature that you must be ready to tolerate. Your risk appetite is very important in this regard.

4. Growth- In the event of whether savings or investments, growth is a major factor, people just save in any vehicle, when you can use tax sheltered or tax advantaged environments and get the best on your returns.

In all of this, I am very much interested in helping you get the best deals on the market whether it is a High Interest Savings, I can tell you I can get the best rates beyond the traditional market without surrender charges.
A compounding guaranteed vehicle that is tax sheltered, is another option you might want to consider which acts as a volatility buffer in all your retirement strategies.

Whether risk related or guaranteed, let's have a chat, if what you are doing is not working or you need more info.

This is my Friday muse about family. Integrated into the framework of every family is their ego and value system which is driven by different things.

One of such things is what you drive, you even see kids beckon on their parents to take them to school in a certain car. For sure, dads you better have money.

Where I come from if you drive a car consistently and it goes missing even for a day, people will rather inquire about the whereabouts of the car than your welfare.
To buttress my point of view, looking at the numbers can be so interesting.

Average cost to get a used car- 7,000CAD
Average cost to get a brand-new car- 40,000CAD
Financing costs- 7,000CAD depending on so many factors
Car Insurance- 120 – 450 CAD/month
Registration- 85CAD/year
Servicing and repairs- 600 – 5,000 CAD/year
Gas- 150 to 250CAD/month

Life Insurance- 0 to 150CAD/moth
Critical Illness- 0 to 45CAD/month
Disability Insurance- o0 mostly

Tax Free Savings account- sporadic payments
RRSP/pension plan- employer driven
Investments- High risk portfolio without solving a problem of cashflow

All of these things are driven by a lack of knowledge of what to do adequately to tide and overcome this consumer driven value system.

Constant struggles to keep these numbers going without an adequate financial plan or system. To have passive income take care of such liabilities one needs to take a closer look at where your potential discretionary income goes to and reallocate your finances to better opportunity cost.

Like I said in my earlier post is your family worth fighting for. So, if you spend more on your car or cars than you do on your family, we need to talk.

I have a simple coaching session that will gradually take you from where you to living the life of your dreams.
