The Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada will be meeting in Toronto on the weekend of March 1st. Given the bull metals market - this will be a very well attended event. Could it actually help move the junior metals market even higher? I wouldn't bet against this possibility. Pre-positioning may be in order.

We've seen a tremendous run in the precious metals space. Silver languished at $16 for the longest time and investors had grown weary. Then there was the $33 marker for a good while. Today, it's breached $100 and those patient investors confident with their rationale for being in the space have been rewarded. Also....the mainstream analysts were laughing at gold bugs looking at $5,000 gold. Today the price is $4975, Who do you listen to? Sveinson Financial has been bullish since the price of gold was $280 back in 2002. This was the beginning of one long bull run.

Online commerce has created a conundrum. We want to keep our friendly disposition while hyper aware that scammers and unsolicited sales people lurk. Firstly, if you decide to pick up a call from an unfamiliar number...you know of the probability that its a sales person or scammer. If you next identify that there's a pause before connection -then an auto dialer is at work. Play their game for a quick moment but keep it short. Don't identify yourself and don't say "yes" when they pose the presumptive question of your identify. Ensure you get their first and last name along with their company name at the outset. Get the spellings Then ask them for the best number to call them back at? They want control of the conversation but you won't be giving it. By this stage , there's only a very remote possibility that they've established their credibility with you. Now you have everything you need to check out the company online should you decide to continue and call them back. Alternatively, Canada still has the "Do Not Call List" available to consumers. In the spirit of capitalism business gets to still navigate the shark infested waters so have some fun with it instead of being loathe to the phone.

What does good customer service mean to you? I hope it means the availability of a customer service representative at the other end of the telephone when you need assistance on your account. If it does - then pickings are getting slimmer in the age of AI and digital absolutism (I've just coined this term ;)). Unfortunately; service level declines are now incidental with decreasing competition. Your voice matters if and when competition comes calling.

There have been hiccups over at the CRA of late and it's much to do with the digital processing side lagging tax policy change. In particular - those with capital gains to report may want to hold off filing in the short term to avoid problems with assessments. In context of such, the CRA has extended the personal tax deadline for those who have capital gains to report until June 2, 2025.
