Great estate plans are a team effort. 🤝

We were proud to sponsor the STEP Calgary Branch event last month, featuring a case law update from Shannon James, TEP, of Carscallen LLP.

Our Tax Manager, Ying Chen, CPA, CA, represented the team, joining lawyers, wealth advisors, trustees and accountants all working through the same questions. A family’s biggest decisions don’t fit neatly into one profession, and that’s exactly why collaboration matters.

We’re excited to continue as a STEP Canada sponsor for the 2026–2027 season. See you at the next one!

Thank you to the STEP Calgary Branch for a great event, and to everyone who stopped by our table.

On May 20th, we had the pleasure of hosting our Student Reception Networking Event at the Calgary Winter Club — an evening dedicated to inspiring the next generation of accounting professionals.

New students connected with our experienced team over great food and drinks, gaining valuable insight into the accounting industry, career pathways, and what it truly means to build a rewarding career in this field. The conversations were candid, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the passion in the room was undeniable.

We are proud to support students at every stage of their journey. Events like this remind us of the incredible talent entering our profession — and the importance of showing up as mentors and guides along the way.

Thank you to everyone who joined us. We look forward to many more evenings like this. 🙏

More assurance often means less back and forth.

When financial statements go through a review engagement or audit, the numbers are examined more closely and supported by stronger documentation.

That usually means:
• fewer follow-up questions
• less time chasing additional details
• smoother conversations with lenders and advisors

It doesn’t eliminate risk — but it reduces information uncertainty.
And sometimes that clarity saves everyone a lot of time.

Happy International Women’s Day.

Today we celebrate the women who lead, support, and inspire across our firm, our clients, and our communities. Strong businesses and strong communities are built through diverse leadership, thoughtful collaboration, and the many contributions women make every day.

At Shajani CPA, we are proud to work alongside talented women who bring insight, expertise, and perspective to everything they do.

Here’s to continued progress, opportunity, and leadership.

When serious capital is involved, “good enough” numbers aren’t good enough.

If a business is raising financing, preparing for a sale, or entering merger discussions, stakeholders ask a different question:

Can we rely on these numbers to commit real capital?

That’s the role of audited financial statements.

Audits reduce information risk — and in capital markets, reducing risk almost always improves outcomes.

RRSP reminder you’ll thank yourself for later.

If you want your contribution to count toward your 2025 tax return, the deadline is March 2, 2026.

That includes:
✔ Contributions made during 2025
✔ Contributions made in the first 60 days of 2026

A few things people don’t always realize:
• Payroll RRSP contributions count
• You can make a lump sum contribution anytime
• You don’t have to claim the deduction the same year you contribute
• Contribution room matters

Strong income year? Bonus? Commission spike?
This is where proactive planning beats last-minute scrambling.

At Shajani CPA, we believe in being strategic, not reactive.

📩 Reach out if you’d like to review your RRSP room and build a plan that supports your bigger goals.
