Let’s work through this.

Do you love what you do?

I’m was often haunted by the ‘this is your shot, you have one life’ - so 3 years ago I said yes to a start up that brought me on and taught me so much about myself and where my strengths are. I’m going to keep doing more of that and hence the start of ‘your business bestie’.

Traveling often - it doesn’t have to be far! Where are you going next?

We bought the cutest truck camper last summer and she’s taken us on some great adventures so far and I look forward to many more. It doesn’t have to be a plane ride away. Plan a weekend getaway a few hours away.

For me, it’s God in my day. What about you?

I completely respect that others have many apprehensions of organized religion and I get why. I’m not perfect, get me mad and the profanities spill out like water. But I won’t lie and say that prayer isn’t a really big part of my life and I have definitely seen small miracles in the last few years.

Are you financially stable?

I guess the best way to answer it is this. Your car breaks down next month and it’s $1500 to get it repaired. You need your car for work. Can you pay to have it fixed? That’s a very simplified breakdown but a lot of people are strapped. Knowing when your ‘personal income statement’ is really important.

Are you 4/4?

Ever heard of a “flex budget”? Unlike a static budget that stays the same, a flexible budget adjusts based on real activity levels, like sales or production. 🚀

It’s a dynamic tool for better cost control, planning, and analysis, helping businesses adapt to change and achieve financial accuracy. 💡 Curious how it can benefit you? Drop your questions in the comments! ⬇️

5 Reasons Why Your Business Needs a Budget

Whether you call it a budget, a roadmap, or a financial forecast, it’s one of the most valuable tools a business owner can have.

Let’s dive into why...

1. Budgeting fosters a mindset focused on growth and abundance, not on limitations or scarcity—despite what many think when they hear the word ‘budget.’
The purpose isn’t to cut back or think small; it’s about creating room for expansion.

2. A budget leads to consistent and intentional actions within your business, rather than unexpected or impulsive ones. Decisions made in the dark can negatively affect growth, so scaling businesses should aim to minimize reactive choices.

3. Without a budget, businesses often lack a clear path or specific objectives.
Establishing a budget sets a unified direction and creates accountability, encouraging both you and your team to actively work toward shared goals.

4. Budgets transform how you view your business’s performance. Numbers alone are less meaningful without a context to measure against.
Creating a budget enhances your analytical thinking, making you a more strategic and effective leader.

5. Budgets provide critical insights into what’s driving profits or what might be draining cash flow unnecessarily. This data is crucial!
They also help you prepare for challenges, adapt to changes, and seize new growth opportunities.

5 Tips for Small Business Accounting:

Keep track of your income and expenses monthly. Probably one of my faves to chat about. If you really want transparency in your business; you need your numbers. How else will you know if you can reinvest OR you need to hustle hard to meet your goals.

Stay organized. One I have personally struggled with. So I use apps to remind me of deadlines and grab electronic receipts whenever possible.

Understanding my tax liability throughout the year allows me to plan for year end. Setting aside a minimum amount monthly of your business income for all business types will help you meet your obligations. There is nothing worse than hitting tax time with an empty bank account.

As mentioned above - use the apps and spreadsheets. There are a couple free accounting softwares and low cost spreadsheet downloads that save time at year end if they’re kept up to date. Much easier to tackle in small bits and while the information is still fresh!

Lastly, hire professional help. If you’re not good with numbers and are spending your time that could be spent earning revenue on your bookkeeping; consider the lost revenue Vs the cost of a good bookkeeper.

Remember, start today, we can always catch up yesterday.

Got a bookkeeping mess? No shame, it happens to the best of us. I’ve handled plenty of cleanups, and trust me, there’s nothing more satisfying than seeing those numbers finally make sense.

Think of it like spring cleaning—but for your finances.

Ready to tidy up those books? Let’s get you back on track!
