There are different types of insurance out there and while some providers may seem like an affordable option, hiring uninsured or inadequately insured contractors can put the homeowner at significant financial and legal risk.

What you can do :
1) Ask for proof of Insurance. You will want to ensure they have good environmental Insurance in the event of a spill.
2) Verify credentials. Not every contractor is red seal or has their mechanics license. And therefore may not be able to get the insurance they need
3) Do your research! Look up reviews and ask for references. These matter! Make sure the person coming into your home can actually do the job!
